There are a few things that I care about when I'm staying away - regardless of if it's on business or pleasure: Good wifi Comfortable bed Clean/quiet room Good food These are my must haves and I find I can put up with a lot of other annoyances (e.g. cramped rooms, poor location, lack of power points, no parking, etc)... We stayed for a 2 night, last minute break last week end. The building was very impressive and substantial and has a part in history, being that it was built originally as a workhouse. We were welcomed with a cream tea and home made cakes. The breakfast each morning was very nice too. Sure, we could moan about the decor... More

We stayed here as wanted to explore Élan valley. Room was large, bed comfortable, clean modern bathroom and a nice breakfast in the morning. Used the bar and although the local beer was bottled my husband enjoyed it. Service was good, staff friendly enough. Happy with the price.

Thank goodness the dining room provided us with an excellent dinner and breakfast, for the rest of the place is, quite frankly, awful. Entering the front door it is dark, damp, dismal and depressing, although the Welsh flagstones raise some hope of better things to come. Unfortunately these hopes are dashed by the bizarre reception ‘office’ which is a bare,... More

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights, we were in The Den room which was like a annexe part outside of the main hotel. It was a very cute room, lovely bed, separate lounge area and table and chairs! The bathroom looked new with a modern shower, sink and toilet. The room was very clean and tidy with a... More

We stayed here on short trips during summer 2014! The location is perfect for touring mid-Wales, especially the Elan Valley Reservoirs, and is not too far from Aberystwyth over the wild mountain road. Another attraction is the Red Kite Conservation Centre almost next door where every day you'll see more than 50 red kites soaring into sky following afternoon feeding!... More

We spent two nights and the service was great, friendly, attentive and welcoming. Room was clean with superb views, Red Kites flying overhead - what a delight. Breakfasts were superb with Welsh bacon and eggs which set us up for the day. The hotel is set in a stunningly beautiful area, just far enough out of town to be quiet... More

We arrived at Brynfanon Hotel for a two-night stay and our first impression was that of very dated old country house, that was over run with growth to the face of the building it was so over run that some of the bedroom windows had disappeared from view completely. We were shown to our room by a very helpful and... More

We arrived at Brynfanon Hotel at twenty past nine on the Friday evening to be greeted by a lovely lady. Even though the kitchen closed at eight the staff pulled out all the stops and within thirty minutes they'd cooked fish, chips and peas which was superb. We stayed in Rowen one with its four poster bed and corner bath,... More

Thanks to the Brynafon taking our dog walking group at short notice to due the sad passing of the original planned hotel owner. We had a lovely stay, we were very pleased with our room, nice four poster bed and a good size room for us and the dogs. We had a lovely dinner on Friday night and breakfast was... More
