Someone I met at Rhayader on my last visit had recommended this place (I now think they must have meant the Elan Valley). The pub toilets were right next to the first floor room and alternated between strong disinfectant and urine (the latter in the evenings). The rooms at the front are very noisy with smokers directly under the windows... More

Room 8 is very small - view of a rusty shed next door - bathroom is surreal, as it is behind slatted wooden doors. The light switch for the bathroom is well-hidden behind the wardrobe! When we used the shower, the drain blocked, and had to abandon showering. The breakfast was adequate, but no organisation at all, missing cuttlery, sauces,... More

Stayed here on Saturday (28th Apr 2014). Arrived, seemed okay. We were in Room 3, had driven down from South East England as had a race nearby on Sunday. Dinner was so so, nothing special nothing to moan about but the noise was crazy. It kicked off around 10pm and went on until around 1am. I'm not sure if all... More

Booked for a stay with my wife and another couple for just one night bed and breakfast. We were checked in by Clare who was very welcoming and who showed us to our rooms. The rooms themselves are not large but are perfectly adequate and well equiped. The rooms were very clean and bed linnen crisp and properly white. The... More

We live locally and on our way through Rhayader thought we would stop for drink and snack. We were disappointed to see that we were too late for breakfast, but when we went in we received a very friendly welcome and when we asked if there was any chance of a bacon sandwich we were told that would be fine. We... More

My family and I visited this hotel today for Sunday carvery after reading good reviews about the place online. I can honestly say that I have NEVER experienced such poor customer service in all my life. The manager of the hotel was the man serving the carvery and unfortunately for us, we got accepted for food when it was almost... More

All I can say is that the room #6 was disgusting - very dirty and probably the worst b&b I've ever stayed in. I will never stop there again ! Blood splattering on the walls and a carpet that needs burning.

Stayed her for a night, with a friend and 3 dogs last month. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will most probably book again if we are in that area, Im not sure why there are so many duff reviews for this place? This is a family run hotel in a village where houses have obviously been built in every available space,... More

Possibly one of the worst stair carpets I have ever trod to enter the infamous room 8 (see other traveller's photo). But lovely friendly Kath who had taken our phone booking had warned us that the room was small - and it is. But while the view was disappointing (and also right by one of those noisy heavy duty expelair... More
