Pies - wow... the pies were LOVELY! Proper good pub, as a pub should be! Friendly service, good beer, lovely yummy food, good value, nice oldie building with beams and fireplace etc. Exactly what was needed after walking in the Elan Valley. We'll be back! :)

Stayed overnight before attending the Wales Rally at Sweet Lamb. Booked two rooms, both were cosy, clean and comfortable. Food in the bar was excellent, I had Chilli and my dad the Liver and Bacon, very reasonably priced for the quality. Staff were friendly and the breakfast the next day was lovely, really set us up for the day. I... More

Traditional pub with good ales. Well thought out menu, that wasn't too expensive. I had belly pork with mash. Quite fatty, but that's what you expect of the dish, and it was very tasty. My wife said her steak was wonderful, and the mother-in-law went for the scampi. Particularly impressive were the portion sizes, and the chips, which were excellent.... More

Popped in twice for food whilst visiting Rhayader for a weekend.A good varied menu at very reasonable prices. Staff were very helpful and attentive and the bar had a great atmosphere.Only thing on the down side was the darts match on the Friday which cut down on tables for eating, but the darts players were very courteous to the fact... Did not stay but spent 2 consecutive evenings at the Crown. Group of adults but had children with us and had table in rear room. Really good food, great beer and excellent value. Attentive staff and great relaxing evenings.

We have just had a lovely meal (I had the steak and ale pie and my husband had the leak sausages). The staff were friendly, the restaurant was nicely furnished and the food was superb. I'm glad we chose to eat here and I'd defiantly go back again.

I found this pub particularly had some particularly nice ales (Brains), and tried their rump steak which just melted in the mouth - clearly they place meat quality at the top of their meal agenda. Very good value and a pleasing dining experience.

Was stopping in the town and called in to this lovely little 15th century Inn, quite modern inside and we had lovely lunch sat on the ratten sofa's in the court yard out the back. Had a pint of rev James which was very good and well keeped, all in all very good

Didn't stay in the hotel rooms so I can't comment. However, four of us ate on a Sunday evening (it was a challenge to find somewhere in Rhayader serving on a Sunday evening in the first place!) and the food was pretty good for pub grub. A reasonable selection of classic main courses together with some more unusual combinations made... More

4 of us for a meal. 2 had finished eating their meals before the other two had their meals brought to them, and before you say it, they were not quick eaters. The whole idea in going for a meal was to eat together. As it was a Fri we could not get 2 meals for £10, which is excellent,... More
