We stopped in for lunch after a walk and found this pub very friendly and comfy. Lovely atmosphere, good choice of food. Wish someone had warned me about portion size. Lovely starter of goujons and tartare, and enormous rich tartlet of goats cheese and beetroot with fresh veg. Everything seemed just cooked. All very nicely served with our drinks and... More

Called in for Sunday lunch after a walk along the river. It was very busy and I'm not surprised as the meals were plentiful and very good. The staff were helpful and very cheerful. Its off the main road but well worth looking out for

While this place is busy (I needed to book a table early for my evening meals), the service remains superb. Mark and Karen made my stay especially pleasant - they make a great team at breakfast - try Mark's salmon eggs and Karen's whisky marmalade ... but not if you're driving!! The range of whiskies in the bar is exceptional... More

My husband, myself, our daughter and our whippet went for dinner (well the whippet just slept on his cushion!). We had heard good reviews so booked in advance and after a walk along the glorious Spey river, went in for some dinner. I was actually a little apprehensive, the bar wasn't quite as relaxing or welcoming as I thought but... More

This charming B & B in the town of Aberlour, Scotland derives its name from...what else...the Mash Tun in a distillery. Located in the heart of the Speyside region it is within easy motor able distances of all the major Speyside distilleries and walking distance of the eponymous distillery of the town it is located in. The B & B... More

Please note: We can't speak to the accommodations as we were unable to get a room, BUT we did have dinner and a couple of drinks - actually ate here twice. We found the food marvelous and throw in a couple of drinks - pounds well spent. Cheers.

We came here by word of mouth recommendation and everything about our lunch was lovely. Booking was easy, the service was delightful, willing, friendly and knowledgeable, nothing was too much trouble for the owner Karen or the waiting staff. Food was tip top, Mum tried the Tomintoul 16 whisky on the recommendation of the bar staff and loved it (and... More

If you are looking for a small place with lots of local atmosphere this is the place. The five rooms are above a pub. We had a large room with a separate sitting area. The bathroom was large. The shower would have been small for a large person but was more than adequate for an average sized person. Free breakfast... More

My wife and I wanted to walk a section of the Speyside Way and decided to stay overnight in the Mash Tun. Arrived to a friendly welcome form the young women on duty and were shown to our room which was directly above the bar. But even though the bar was busy there was no noise in our room. The... More

This was the 3rd time I have stayed in the Mash Tun. What I have observed is a slow decline in standard of accommodation. It still has the old style but things could do with a wee bit of a tidy up. A touch of paint here and there in the accommodation area. Wifi is becoming a necessity for travellers... More
