THIS is not for the rooms but for the restaurant where we have eaten regularly. The food is upmarket pub food, very nicely presented and good food. It is also very good value for money, and interesting as a whisky bar. However the staff could really work on being more friendly and hospitable, We were spending a lot of money... more

Booked the Mash Tun for my wife and I, and a couple of friends based on Tripadvisor reviews and a quick look at the website. Got to be the best base for a Speyside distillery tour by a long way. We stayed in the Glenlivet and Aberlour rooms which I believe are the biggest rooms. Clean comfortable, well heated and... more

Deciding based on other reviews to give it a try for dinner, we drove from Dufftown and saw their sign. Turning down a little street, the Mash Tun was easy to locate. We loved the atmosphere and food so much, we went there twice! The second night they were full up, so we waited at the bar and enjoyed a... more

Normally on business i stay in Elgin but i stumbled across The Mash Tun last year and loved it. So much so, i've never stayed in Elgin since. The accommodation is modern, clean and tidy - rooms are perhaps not as big as say T/Inn but the views of the river, the friendly service from all staff and the great... more

This is an excellent place to have an evening meal. We had several meals at this lovely pub/restaurant by the river in Aberlour. The Mashed Tun is a pub but is given over mostly to dining. The food is uncomplicated and beautifully freshly prepared. The bar and easy seating combined with the dining area provide a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The... more

Stayed here for three days while I was working in Dufftown. The rooms aren't that big but they are luxurious and comfortable. TVs are really small and don't have a great selection of channels. The restaurant/bar is really nice, again small but very friendly. The food is gorgeous! The B&B backs onto a lovely park area with a lovely wee... more

we went to Arbelour for the highland games and decided, on looking at tripadvisor, to stay here. We weren't disappointed. The rooms are big -ours was on the top floor and had a whisky name, which i can;t remember! There was a roll top bath and shower and the bedroom had fantastic views over the river. The Bar below serves... more

We stayed at The Mash Tun for 3 days not to sample the whisky but to attend a wedding that was held right next to the River Spey. We have 2 children under 6 and had the Abelour suite which has two rooms one with a double bed and the other a very comfortable sofa bed. which was great as... more

I spent a weekend at the Mash Tun in early December with my boyfriend. We were looking to get up north and enjoy some whisky, good meals and nice scenery and the Mash Tun fitted the bill perfectly. Although no distilleries were open at the weekend in the low season, the large (and very high quality) selection at the bar... more

The Mash Tun is a whisky bar that is also a bed and breakfast. Five rooms above the bar - 3 on the 2nd floor and 2 on the 3rd. All five rooms are named for various local distilleries. We spent 2 nights in the Glenfarclas room which is located on the 2nd floor directly over the bar. The room... more
