It's an ideal location for visiting the Highlands, centrally located in the quaint village of Aberlour, next to the Spey river. We love the staff and received the best advice from Karen to visiting other sights besides our already planned distilleries. They helped us celebrate a very special anniversary. The pub downstairs serves awesome food - truly the best smoke... More

Stayed 2 nights. The room was comfortable with views of The Spey. We ate in the bar both nights. Unfortunately we were treated rather shabbily. On the first night we were given the worst table next to an outside door that didn't close properly. We booked a better table on the 2nd night. When we came down to dinner we... More

I recently stayed here with my adult sons, whisky fanatics, as we celebrated the most recent college graduation with a journey through Scotland. We received one of warmest and most informative welcomes of our entire journey from the staff and owners. We had beautiful views of the Spey and the skies out our two top floor rooms. Terrific dinner and... More

I wanted to take in a distillary tour on our recent trip to Scotland and had already decided we would be coming up from Aberdeen and rounding back to spend our last several days closer to Edinburgh Airport. Rather than the obvious choice of something in Dufftown, because we were planning on a stop at the Glenfiddich Distillary, I chose... More

Have stayed here for more times than I can remember. The welcome from Mark the owner and his wife and family has always been second to none. The position of the hotel is next to a beautiful park.In autumn the colour of the trees is something special to see.You can hear the noise of the river Spey from your room. That and a... My wife & I stayed for two nights at the Mash Tun, whilst touring round the north of Scotland. We did the distillery tour in Aberlour, and the Mash Tun was the perfect place to stay for touring around. We stayed in the Glenlivet room on the top floor and this was spacious, with a very comfortable bed and a... More

The Mash Tun has comfortable rooms, but the real treat is the pub downstairs. The food is fantastic- try the house made sausages- they are to die for. The breakfast is wonderful as well, and they will bring you just about anything you want. The trail literally goes right next to the building, and the river Spey runs 30 yards... More

Most previous reviews have pretty much said it all - this is a lovely establishment, full of character - we had the Macallan Room, with a nice coombed ceiling and a lovely bay window looking out onto the Spey. Nicely decorated and comfy beds. Food in the restaurant was excellent, breakfast great too with smoked salmon and scrambled eggs and... More

We stayed at The Mash Tun 20/05/14 to 23/05/14 with friends (they made the booking). It was a good choice, spotlessly clean, very friendly accommodating staff, nothing was too much trouble. The food was very good, breakfasts were more than adequate, scrambled egg and smoked salmon was amazing! The bedroom had plenty of space, the shower room was small but... More
