You have to review hotels for what they are. If you are expecting a luxurious five star experience at Raven Hall you would score it badly. If however you want something homely, fabulous views and in the country with no pretensions of being anything other, it scores well. My daughters wedding was here and that was superb. Obviously gambling with... More

The views over the bay are amazing - the setting is wonderful but very cold even in April. Our room (201) was large but very underwhelming where decorative flair, was concerned - a cheap and nasty piece of metal art sculpture over the very old fashioned dressing table . The most modern aspect of the room being a flat screen... More

There can be few more fabulous settings for a hotel than the Raven Hall. We have know the place for many years - used the open-air swimming pool in the 1950's (but that is long gone). We stayed here in 2012 for our 50th wedding anniversary and they did us proud, so we fancied another three-night break - its an... More

We stayed at Raven Hall towards the end of March with quite a large group of friends for a few days of walking and bridge. Despite there being so many of us, the hotel made us extremely welcome and not 'just part of the group'. Our bedroom, although relatively small was comfortable and adequate. When we reported a problem with... More

Arrived at Raven Hall at midday for overnight stay, parked up, informed reception of our arrival then set off for a coastal walk on the Clevelend Way up to Robin Hoods Bay vie Boggle Hole returning via the old rail line. Checked into room 101 which afforded excellent views northwards up the coast. Dinner was on offer from 18:00 -... More

We arrived to be greeted by a dismal reception area, and an overpowering smell of stale food, which was explained as you have to walk passed the kitchen door to get to the public areas. Our room was in the attic, a good size but very tired, I understand others had just been refurbished, but no accommodation to the price... More

This was our fourth visit in the past five months and I must start by stating that the review by GrahamJ1959 in relation to the restaurant is absolute codswallop. The restaurant is by far the best part of this hotel. The staff are wonderful, the service great and the food superb. And we have stayed here many times, will be... More

we enjoyed a lovely one night break here in March 2014. stunning location. The staff were very friendly, the pool was lovely, small but we had it to ourselves! the room we had was great, a corner room with big windows on 2 sides, we paid slightly more for a sea view and although the sea view was obscured by... Booked at last minute and could not have been more delighted. This is a lovely hotel. Beautiful views from bedroom and restaurant. Food was excellent and service could not have been improved on. Would certainly stay again and will be recommending to friends. On a negative note swimming pool not really suitable for swimmers who want to exercise, too small.

We stayed two nights and walked three days. The options are cliff, railway track/cycle way, or moorland if you get in the car and head for the nearby moors. The view down to robin hoods bay is incredible and the walk there is well worthwhile coming back past the historic alum works. The hotel is historic but well kept and... More
