My husband and I stayed at this hotel over two years ago, and I still can't forgive or forget. At first, the owner was merely pushy--extremely pushy. We ate at the restaurant the first night (of two), but we didn't think we could endure it again. The food was good, yes, but we were the only customers, and the owner,... more

When we travel in Europe we carry a Michelin Red Guide and we look for the starred restaurants. We've dined at many of the world's greatest restaurants including El Bulli and Arzak in Spain, Troisgros and Michel Guerard in France, etc. One of the very best meals we've ever enjoyed was at La Plume d Oie. This small restaurant is... more

Mark & Hiddy gave us the best foodie experience we had in a gluttony of amazing food experiences across France including out-ranking two of Paris' best restaurants. This must become a key stop of every person looking for amazing dishes in SW France - and probably most of France. Big call but worthy of it. Even the breakfast blew us... more

We had the great good pleasure of having a meal at this wonderful restaurant. We were charmed by our hostess, Hiddy, and Mark, the chef, served us one of the most fabulous meals you can imagine. From the amuse bouche of a pumpkin/chestnut soup to the most wonderful poached pear combination for dessert, the meal was a complete success. more

My husband and I stayed at this small and charming auberge during a tour of the Dordogne region. La Roque-Gageac's beauty is well documented and deservedly so. A Green river with golden reflections explored by boat trip from the village produced a peaceful, contented feeling which was only enhanced by the comfortable room with pretty little balconette giving a view... more

Contrary to a recent review by 'Apollinaire' we stayed at this comfortable, well run and scrupulously clean Auberge around the same time. We found the owners friendly, helpful and congenial. Our room welcoming after a day out in this gorgeous area. Ours was a most memorable stay in this lovely village more

My husband and I returned to La Plume because of fond memories of a past visit, hoping that not too much would have changed. We were not disappointed. I requested the same room overlooking the river and with a small balcony. It is a wonderful spot to relax after a busy day of sightseeing. The highlight of each day, however,... more

Having rembered it fondly from a trip in 1993, we stayed at the La Plume d'Oie for 3 nights in Septmeber and enjoyed it greatly. As its name 'Auburge" implies the La Plume d'Oie is not principally a hotel. Rather, it is a small, intimate, and well located place to stay while enjoying the area and particularly its wonderful restruant... more

We were just at the Plume d'Oie for two nights because we attended a wedding at La Malartrie, the chateau overlooking the town of La Roque Gageac and the Dordogne valley. Our friend, the mother of the groom, booked the room for us. As soon as we arrived at the Plume, the Dutch owner asked us what time we wanted... more

It's true: the location is great. But we experienced the following: * A very pushy owner. Upon arrival, she did not ask us whether we wanted to have dinner at their restaurant, but simply asked at what time we wanted to have it. As if we had no choice! The same goes for breakfast, but be careful: it is not... more
