Lodging options are limited in Puerto San Carlos. This is a classic Spanish building with everything off a walled in courtyard. Entry is through two massive doors into a tree shaded courtyard. Dinng is in the courtyard, rooms on the edge. There is nothing cookie cutter about this place. It has character.. The rooms are quite small, bed, night stand,... More

We've visited San Carlos many times, but this was our first time at this hotel which was head and shoulders above what we were used too. Of course we were paying a lot more too, but it was worth it. However I do think we got the best room and at a discounted price as this was the slow season.... More

This hotel is all about the charming courtyard, with lush landscaping and outdoor seating. Our room was quite small. Good enought for a one-night whale watching stay.Compared to the other hotel in town, Alcatraz has the beautiful courtyard, while the other hotel has bigger rooms. Both hotels are good.

We needed to join a tour early in the morning starting in San Carlos the next day hence we had to stay in San Carlos for one night. There were not much options and we went for this hotel. The room is basic but spacious. The water was not very hot. The bed was comfortable and the blankets were good... More

Four of us - plus my mother-in-law - stayed at the Alcatraz last weekend on a whale-watching excursion to San Carlos. I called earlier in the week to reserve two rooms and to arrange a boat trip to see the whales in Mag Bay. When we arrived late on Saturday afternoon, check-in was easy. The rooms were all set and... I have been staying here for 10 years. Every year we come to this beautiful part of Mexico and have a wonderful time. The patio is very nice and the steaks cooked on the outside grill are to die for. Chela is the best cook in all of Mexico. I travel to several different states in Mexico all year and... More

She confirmed our boat with Danny for the next day- which he came and greeted us. Breakfast was good.... clean place.. very nice.. Everything ran smooth.. Boat was in perfect working condition. A female friend and I requested twin beds in one room. The room opened to the outdoor restaurant so was very noisy until about midnight. The short twin mattress was placed on a cement slab about 3 feet off the ground, very uncomfortable, short (I'm only 5ft.6in. and my feet hung off the end of the bed), and we felt... More

The pros: the staff are extremely nice, helpful, friendly and warm. The hotel itself is very charming and has a welcoming, open and cosy ambiance. The little restaurant is open air, serves good food, primarily Mexican and the kitchen is spotlessly clean. The hotel has a feeling of peace and calmness. The room and bathroom were clean as we're the sheets and... More
