This was the perfect place to end our 22-day 'round island tour. Comfy bed, garden and mountain view, nice walk down to the shore. Hosts were nice Kiwi farmers and ranchers and know how to explain local history and show you how farming in the area goes on. Loved the place.

We have just enjoyed three fabulous days at this wonderful farmstay. Murray and Sue were charming and entertaining hosts and made us feel very welcome in their cosy, tasteful home. We enjoyed delicious breakfasts and a hearty roast lamb dinner accompanied by home-grown vegetables from Sue's garden. Our comfortable bed in a delightful bedroom had a great view of the... More

The view from our room was so amazing that I had a hard time sleeping. The stars were so bright and looked so close. I would awake to see the moon rising out of the bay. Then in the morning I would watch the sunrise. After a thunder storm one night we saw a huge rainbow whose one end was... More

We stayed with Sue and Murray Johns for two nights when we first arrived in South Island. We loved our time on the farm and the fabulous welcome we received. They made us extremely welcome and we left feeling as if we had made two new, good friends after only two days. The accommodation is excellent, food very yummy and the... More

We were on a day tour from our cruise ship and were overwhelmed by Sue and Murray's welcome to their home and farm. The farm tour and sheep shearing was extremely interesting and informative. Tea, coffee and Sue's homemade scones were a treat. The gardens and flowers were so attractive we did not want to leave at the end of... More

This was the greatest overnight stay we have ever experienced - so peaceful and relaxing. The warmth, friendliness & hospitality of Sue & Murray was overwhelming. So close to city life - yet a million miles away - we found this idyllic homestay. Murray has a wealth of knowledge of the area, and explained the workings of his farm during... More

My husband and I stayed for 5 days at this magnificent farm stay! We only wishbone could have been longer! Murray and Sue were so incredibly warm and friendly, making our stay a memory we will cherish forever. There was even a very unexpected and heartbreaking event in their family during our stay. Though we we offered to go someplace... More

We stayed for two nights and enjoyed very much the peace and quiet there. Our room and bathroom was probably the prettiest and most unforgottable during our NZ holiday. Sue and Murray were really friendly, easy-going hosts and we had great conversations with them. We didn't see the farm that much but they gave us many good travel tips.

We highly recommend this experience for both overseas visitors and us kiwi 'townies'. And foget about the really old reviews. Whatever happened over 4 years ago seems just sour grapes. Although we only travelled from Christchurch, it seemed like we were almost in a different country. The Paua Bay farm is not difficult to find and like most remote locations,... More
