Hi everybody, I had my wedding very nearby Gulf Harbour Lodge and suggested to my guests to use this accomodation. Worst mistake!!!!! I had booked months in advance and the day before the wedding (the day one lot of guests were to check in) they were told there was no disability room available - for my grandmother who was in... Dated to say the least, needs some work all over the room, no AC, broken DVD Player had to repeatedly get staff up to fix and replace with other players, gave up after the third time and all that was offered was wifi, we didn't even have a laptop - _- ... What did make the stay nice though was... More

It is true that the soft furnishings are worn, the wall heater is rusting and the paint chipping, but this lodge has the feel of faded luxury and provides a comfortable and relaxing stay. I have stayed here three times now, most recently at Christmas. Stayed in a two roomed suite. It had a delightful lounge, separate bedroom with comfortable... More

This is not "Whangaparoa Luxury Accomodation" as the website states. We stayed in room 2. It smelt terrible (curry). No air conditioning and no sky. Extremely average. I will say location good with bars etc in close proximity AVOID

Stayed at the lodge for 2 nights. No one at reception when we arrived had to use the reception phone to get someone to come to attend to us. We were given a large room with 2 double beds. The beds didn't have pillow cases so had to ring reception and ask for some pillow cases, there was a table... More

Sad to say this place did not match the description. Ghost ship is a good description. Having been told the only available room was a luxury suite we booked anyway. struggled to navigate to the room because signage was ambiguous, difficulty getting lighting operational, sitting watching tv ( not Sky) when our door is opened by another guest whose key... Warm welcome from reception staff, 3 of us asked for 2 single beds but the room we got had two doubles and a single which was nice. The room had everything in it if you never wanted to leave the spacious room, Pacific Bar and nice restaurant just downstairs though. Highly recommended!

Booked in for two nights as it is close to Gulf Harbour Marina and my boat was temporarily uninhabitable. Booked into a second floor room with views over the 'canal'. We seemed to be the only guests and after booking in did not see anyone at reception again.... it was a bit like being on 'the ghost ship'. The room?... More

This lodge provides comfortable accommodation in a quiet semi-surburban waterfront canal setting. I was here for a family Christmas nearby (I wasn't travelling with family which is why I've ticked Solo below, but they were close by). The room was huge (larger than my combined lounge and kitchen at home!), the bed comfortable, had a good bathroom with a generous... More

This is not luxury accommodation. Thought it was strange when i had to pay for my stay up front. Should have left then. The room is old and dated and had a musty smell. No sky TV - we asked about that and the manager said the sky was faulty and they could not fix it until monday to later... More
