This motel has a great location, just beside the Tangariro River, a few minutes drive to town center. Room is specious with full cooking facilities, free fast wifi, peaceful environment and of course comfortable bed and good shower. I just have nothing to pick on this motel. All in all, this is a great place to relax, especially if you... More

Thanks for posting a review. The open fire in the bar/restaurant area is a real bonus and is very popular on the cooler evenings. More

We booked two rooms and Kay & Brian the hosts, offered us two rooms which were inter-connected. We loved this place where we had a small but well appointed kitchenette. We conveniently cooked breakfast (not the dinner because we are curry people and we were advised against cooking with curries in the facility). The rooms were large and very comfortable.... More

This is a very clean and tidy motel complex. Well placed in the centre of the North island for those wishing to break their journey, or for those wanting to sample the local activities such as the famed trout fishing. The motel has a good bar and restaurant with very friend staff and serves really great food. The motel also... More

Thanks for your review. We're very pleased with the high standard of the meals coming out of our kitchen. Our staff work hard at maintaining those standards as we're pleased it shows in the end product. More

We stayed here for two nights, before and after our Tongariro hike, and we really liked the place. We booked two rooms, and got two adjacent rooms with a connecting door. Both rooms have a small kitchen, which was a little unexpected. After coming back from a difficult hike, we grabbed their hot water tub room and just sat there... More

Our family of four stayed here on our way from Wellington to Auckland. It's in a great location: on the main road and close to the shops but also close to a nice walk along the river. The rooms are clean and well-equipped. We had breakfast at the restaurant and our hosts were very accommodating of our little kids.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review. We agree our location is ideal for a stop over to break up a long trip. Turangi Tongariro also has a lot to offer as a destination in it's own right. For those who like to be outdoors, this area has it all whether it be summer or winter with swimming,... More

My husband and I stayed were showing my Canadian brother around parts of the North Island and booked a twin room. A room for myself and my husband and one for my brother. How wrong were we..........! Twin room to the new owners is in their words 'industry speak', for one room.........huh? We said if you have anything with the... More

We're sorry you felt you didn't get what you ordered but we totally stand by our offering. You booked via Expedia a "Twin Studio" room which very clearly states contains 2 single beds and a sofa bed and very clearly pictures the very same 2 single beds and sofa on the booking page. Clearly you made an error in the... More

Lovely couple Brian and Kay the hosts who looked after us and our small dog so well. You will love the old world lodge appeal of the bar and huge fireplace with wicked leather sofas to have a few drinks in before dinner. We had super food in the restaurant and will definately return for a longer stay. He river... More

Whoever said they couldn't hear the road (State Highway 1) from this motel was either deaf or in a room with triple glazing. The noise in our room was loud and pretty much constant and from both sides. Others evidently found it noisy too: neighbours were up and packing their cars between 5am and 6am. I'd advise the motel to... More

No fresh water fish? Ha Ha. I suppose you are referring to trout which is the fish that people come here to catch. It is illegal to trade in trout in New Zealand and you won't find it on the menu in any restaurant. We stand by our prices which we believe are realistic and fair with a wide range.... More

We spent two nights at this motel and enjoyed every aspect of it. Friendly staff and owners, comfortable beds and an outstanding restaurant. The best steak I have ever had! It was entertaining to watch the anglers fishing in the river.

Thanks for the kind comments. We agree it is entertaining watching the anglers. It gets even more entertaining when there's a few of them and they get themselves in a bit of a tangle! More
