I stayed here with some friends for a couple of days. Very good price, clean rooms, we met a lot of nice backpackers. We had a lot of fun and stayed longer than we actually wanted to. It's just a great place.

I recently traveled New Zealand for three months with my boyfriend. This backpacker turned into a home base for us, with us staying on four separate occasions. It is a cozy, lived in, colorful place, that at the same time feels clean and relaxing. The owner Ian is delightful and goes above and beyond to make sure that his guests... More

This is definitely classified as a typical backpacker hostel. Do not expect luxuries. We (couple) paid $60 for a double bed for one night on NYE and were reasonably satisfied. We really enjoyed the atmosphere :) the place is very welcoming and covered w paintings from previous backpackers. The owner Ian was very friendly and eager to help when we... More

The hostel is pretty big and super chill. The owner Ian is very friendly and will provide the same services that the busses will to get around the national park. Don't expect a tight schedule around Turangi. Come and enjoy Nature and good company!

We chose to stay at the backpacker lodge because we were on a long road trip and figured we won't have much time to enjoy the place/ facilities. It turned out to be a fun place for my children as there were board games, books, even a small playground to keep them entertained. The owner Ian was helpful and we... More

The owner is really helpful and the accommodation has a great location if you're planning on going to Tongariro crossing. If you into backpacker places then you would definitely enjoy this place.Personally I didn't like the interior but it had its own charm. The place was clean and friendly. We enjoyed staying there.

Stayed only a night here during my road trip to Wellington and proved to be a nice stop off. Rooms were a bit heavy with their character but it was cheap for the money I paid which was the main thing. Bathroom was a bit tatty, however, the showers were great. The owner was very helpful and seemed to enjoy... More

It was a great location for visiting the Tongariro National Park. The best part was the host Ian. The most kind and helpful owner who will bend over backwards to make you feel welcome. We will definitely stay here again if we come back!

This hostel is one of the best, if not the best I have stayed in whilst in NZ. It looks a little mad when you first arrive, but then you get chatting to Ian, the manager and you realise how special this place is. Ian is amazing, will help you out however he can, arranging trips and car shares among... More
