I went to Auckland for a work trip and had to stay the weekend so decided to venture out of the city and explore the beautiful majesty of NZ. I was incredibly fortunate as I was by myself to stumble on such a lovely and welcoming couple. Breakfast was included but they even welcomed me to join them for dinner... More

We spent two nights at this comfortable and clean B&B/home-stay and really enjoyed the hospitality and company of Shirley-Ann and Richard. They were forthcoming with good recommendations of things to do when the inclement weather meant that we could not walk the Tongariro Crossing. They organised a half-day trout fishing trip with an excellent local guide, and then not only... More

We stayed two nights here and thoroughly enjoyed the very comfortable and spacious bedroom as well as the tranquil environment. The bedroom has a lovely view of the garden and further to Lake Taupo. The hosts, Richard and Shirley-Ann, were very friendly and kind and a lovely breakfast is served in their dining room with a wide selection including a... More

We stayed only one night here but thoroughly enjoyed the evening with our sociable and interesting hosts Shirley- Ann and Richard. A special welcome and very nice touch was flying the flags of their guests' home countries. Breakfast was wonderful. As pointed out by other reviewers, the location is handy for the Tongariro Alpine Crossing (which we didn't do!). There... More

We enjoyed staying with Richard and Shirley very much. Thay gave us the feeling that we were very welcome and that they enjoyed looking after us. The room was comfortable and spacious and had a beautiful view. The breakfast and the daily cakes were yummy. The location is quiet, but within driving distance of different eateries. We would highly recommend... More

Can only recommend this place. Hosts are very nice and extremely helpful. Good breakfast. Cozy and very clean rooms with excellent views over the lake. Very quiet location, close enough to Tongariro NP.

Richard and Shirley-Ann were exxxtremely nice and helpful. We were received like friends and celebrated Xmas with them. Richard fixed my wife's broken hiking shoe - it worked for the remaining three weeks stay in New Zealand - and Shirley-Ann cooked, baked and even did the washing for our son (and refused to be paid for the extra service). Food,... More

Definitely the best staying of our holiday. The house has been lately renewed - everything is brand new. A cosy, bright, ample, extraordinary clean suite, with even a room for the baggages and with a view over the lake. The bathroom is wide with a powerful shower. We were pampered by Shirley-Ann with delicious cakes, she used to 'forget' every... More

Shirley-Ann and Richard were the perfect hosts, warm and welcoming without being intrusive: we arrived on a public holiday which meant that local restaurants were closed, so having checked that out, a BBQ was prepared and served for all guests in the house - seven altogether, which made for a friendly evening of international chatter and friendship - just what... We would love to keep this place to ourselves but it just would not be fair! The room is lovely (fantastic bed, nice bathroom, great decoration and spotless ) and you have coffee-making facilities. The hosts, Sherley-Ann and Richard did everything they could to make our stay comfortable and welcoming - and we most certainly did feel welcome (thanks so... More
