We stayed with a group of 12 (3 families + grandparents) for two night while 8 of us did the Tongariro crossing. The rooms were fine and all the staff were very pleasant but here's the BUT... the service in the Restaurant was appalling. The waiters and bar staff were very pleasant but the systems in the hotel weren't up... More

The lodge is in a lovely location but is totally over priced. The Chalets are no more than average motel standard and with the exception of the host, the restaurant and bar service was average. Similarly, although the food on the main menu was good, it was very expensive relative to even top class restaurants in NZ. there was a... More

Treat night on holiday and while it was nice, it wasn't value for money. Our accommodation was a bit tired although very clean. Our 4 course meal was lovely and the lodge setting was tranquil. We like 'nice' and will pay for it. This was the most expensive accom & food package we've ever paid for & it didn't quite... More

This little hideaway is set in a beautiful location along the Tongariro River hidden amongst the many native trees on the outskirts of town. You couldn't be more impressed by Andrew who was extremely friendly and helpful and this made the fact that our room wasn't ready acceptable. As per previous reviews, it is quite expensive for the quality of... More

We spent 2 weeks in NZ hiking and fishing, and started our vacation with an outstanding 3 night stay at Tongariro a lodge. The outstanding fishing on the property offered sunup to sundown fishing opportunities, while our fishing guide took us to more remote spots offering excellent fishing! The villa we stayed in was huge and spotless and couldn't have... More

stayed here recently with friends whilst touring north island. The boys in the group arranged to do a days fly fishing with a guide which worked very well. Good guide and great experience. The lodge itself is very old and the rooms in urgent need of updating. Beautiful grounds and location, but for the price not up to par. Partial... More

We only stayed at Tongariro Lodge for one night but I can honestly say that this was a great place to stay. The cabins were lovely and full of character, they fit into the environment perfectly, and very comfortable. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and the food in the restaurant was amazing - I had steak and my... More

My teenage fishing-mad son announced he wanted to learn fly-fishing and those in the know said that the Tongariro River was the place to do it. A friend recommended Tongariro Lodge and particularly their fantastic fishing guides, Tim and Graeme (now known as 'the legends' according to my son and his friends!). The Lodge is an easy and scenic four... More

Beautiful scenery, right on the waters edge. Great for those keen trout fishermen. Close to mountains, skiing, mountain treks, bush walks, water rafting and many other outdoor activities. Lodge facilities very clean, tidy, modern decor and well equipped. Large grounds well kept. Staff courteous and assist with all enquiries. The meals are delicious. Excellent venue for our conference. We thoroughly enjoyed... More

We highly recommend Tongariro lodge. We had a lovely stay and found the lodge very professionally run. We couldn't have been more happy with the large spacious room and fantastic food. A talented chef. Thanks so much to and the awesome team!
