This is a wonderful place and the new owners are super-friendly. Atmosphere is rustic, of course. Certain things have to be noted: if you stay in one of the cabins on the main property, you will have to go to another building for washrooms and showers. If you come, as I did, with a group that takes over the whole... More

I just got back, and am already looking forward to the next time. Went with a group of friends, and we had the whole place for ourselves. I don't know what I liked better - the beautiful wooden lodge, the nature that surrounded us or the feel that the place emits. It is also very affordable. There is a big... More

The Den has been my go-to rally point for trips into Algonquin Park for a number of years now. There's a certain energy on this property that can not be easily reproduced. Outdoor sauna, outdoor showers/wash station, and well maintained log cabins/bunkhouses really set the tone; however the main building houses some really nice showers that never run out of... More

If you're in that small demographic of moneyed couples that just wants to be alone, in luxury, can't keep your hands off each other and want to be on the city soft side of nature . There are plenty of cabin, resort-y type institutions outside of Algonquin Park for you. A few even do it well, but for EVERYONE else,... More

This is a great place to go as a group of friends if you take over the entire place. Also great for a one night stop over enroute to other places. There are new owners who seem to be nice - time will tell if the place remains as a budget haven.

We stayed for two nights right after Christmas, and enjoyed every bit of it. We were two families with a bunch of kids ages 4 to 12. we got two cozy cabins, all to ourselves, surrounded by the wood. The main lodge serves as the kitchen, dining room, leaving room and the perfect place to meat the other people/groups who... More

A little late posting this but really wanted to make it known that I was so happy to have stayed at the Wolf Den for three days in late September. As a camper, this was my first hostel experience and it exceeded my expectations on every level. From the time of arrival, the owners and staff were extremely welcoming, helpful... More

It's kinda hard to explain... As someone whose preferred idea of a stay away from home is 'granite, pine, easy canoe landing with a nice well-drained tent site', the Wolf Den is sheer luxury. You have to prepare your own food and do your own washing up, but-- they have capacious refrigerators and plenty of stovetop space, all in a... More

We stayed in the main lodge for 3 nights in September. The hostel was rustic and a perfect feel for being out with nature, tucked away off the main road in the trees. This place has a very laid back feel to it, from the minute you walk in taking your shoes off to making your bed with the clean... More

We've stayed at the Wolf Den about half a dozen times over the past 5 years, and always look forward to our next trip there. The location - just outside the west end of Algonquin Park - is perfect, the facilities are great, and Jacques & Jennifer are lovely hosts. We always meet great people when staying here, and have...
