I wish I'd planned in more time for the Algonquin portion of the trip! I spent 2 nights at the Den, but could have stayed for a week! It's an amazingly relaxed atmosphere with old style bunkhouses as the main accommodation. Having stayed in a lot of city accommodation previously on the trip, it was refreshing to find a place... Excellent facilities, clean and very comfortable. The lounge upstairs in the main house is the perfect spot to relax and meet others. Jen and Jacques are fantastic hosts, they make you feel welcome and at home, like you're visiting with good friends :) Kitchen is fully and completely stocked, with more than enough room in the fridge for your food,... I booked the Beaver Cabin for 6 people. There were some changes in our plans but the owners didn't mind at all that the booking went from 6 to 4 people. They were really accommodating and kind (even when we arrived late). The hostel provided towels and linens, coffee/tea and all dishes we'd need for cooking. Everything was very clean... More

Great Prices... but you get what you pay for. The kitchen (when we were there) was overcrowded with both peoples' foodstuffs and people trying to cook. With their children underfoot, it was all the more challenging. Also... there is very limited indoor space to relax and the furniture is very uncomfortable in the lodge. Add the fact that there is... The Wolf Den Hostel And Nature Retreat, on Highway 60, very close to Algonquin Park, gets guests from around the world, and they love this all-Canadian gem of a hostel. The main building features a beautiful all-wood interior and a communal kitchen that cannot be beat. The rooms are basic, compared to a five star hotel, but fancy, compared to... More

My son, sister, and I enjoyed 2 wonderful nights here. The location is perfect...short drive to Huntsville and other conveniences and another 5 minutes to Algonquin Park! The lodge is fabulous... Lots of cozy hangout areas inside with a spotless, well-equipped kitchen. Outside there are Bbqs, fire pits and gardens to enjoy. We met lots of amazing people from all... More

Loved this place, real hostel environment with very friendly people, a campfire, songs, stories and awesome accommodation close to nature With a real personal touch. Jaques and Jennifer sorted us out with where the best places to canoe and walk were and we really enjoyed our time in the algonquin national park!

We spent 2 nights at this great hostel and we really enjoyed it. Jen and Jack are really nice and interesting people, and we really admire the choice they have made...we wish them the best of luck on this new life project:-) The rooms are basic but nice(we stayed at the main building), and the common room is awesome -... Spent a couple of nights here in one of their private rooms, we both had a most pleasant stay. Great location, lovely setting, friendly staff, and overall a wonderful experience. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for an alternative to hotels.

This is a wonderful place and the new owners are super-friendly. Atmosphere is rustic, of course. Certain things have to be noted: if you stay in one of the cabins on the main property, you will have to go to another building for washrooms and showers. If you come, as I did, with a group that takes over the whole... More
