A welcome stop on the WHW The beer is good and the Climbers Bar comfortable But what really makes this place is the people in the bar Most if not all are walking the Way and so it is very friendly and a place to swap stories and experiences , compare blisters and the like.

This hotel is in the most amazing location, in a valley between stunning mountains. It has a lot of history. I don't think it would take much work to make it amazing. Unfortunately it feels rather clapped out. And the dinners and breakfasts were of very poor quality (dinners were also served shambolically). I guess that they don't care, because... More

Despite turning people away at busy times, the hotel provides good standard accommodation and food. Good choice for breakfast and dinner. The location is stunning. The Climbers Bar has the best atmosphere.

Stayed at the Kings House for a night whilst on a Land's End to John O'Groats cycle ride. The staff were very nice letting me store my bike in the pantry overnight, breakfast was okay but not great, and the room was very basic (no tv and shared facilities). They did have laundry facilities which was handy, and the evening... More

Having eaten in the Kings House on a previous trip I was looking forward to staying the night. I arrived first and received a VERY WARM WELCOME. We were a fairly large group, did not expect art decor and the hotel lived up to that expectation... All the staff I spoke to were lovely, the food was very edible on... More

Tired and midge bitten after a long day climbing with my 10 year old, we decided to escape the midges and get something to eat in the Climbers Bar. We stood meekly at the bar along with another customer from about 20:25 (precise, I know, but timing is crucial in this hotel that time forgot) desperately trying to get the... More

We arrived here after a long day with low expectations but we were pleasantly surprised. The food in the pub was average at best - but the view and friendly staff helped compensate. Our room was updated and comfortable. The shower water pressure was low but functional. Wifi only in the pub and not very functional - but not surprising... More

It's hard to know whether the owners of this popular hotel cultivate it's air of threadbare comfort, or whether it is carelessly run down. As it is the "only show in town" - (actually x miles from the nearest other habitation!) - it gets away with it, in style. The bath plug doesn't fit, the hot water is painfully slow,... More

Amazing location on Rannoch Moor and the views were incredible. Hotel itself was tatty and in need of some upgrading - a disappointment given the price. Staff were friendly, but the porridge served at breakfast was awful!

At the end of a long walk, 19 miles, and despite being rather wet there was a warm welcome at reception. There were excellent views down Glencoe from our room when the clouds lifted and the deer outside our window were a bonus. Our room was very comfortable and although not en-quite the shared facilities were clean, warm and well... More
