we called in just before last christmas, purely because of the name of the village and lo and behold, a pub so we had to check it out, would have been rude not to. The hotel could not have been more accommodating, from Joe's well kept ales to "mother's" pot of tea. We intend to go back to Ecclefechan just... More

Had a lovely overnight at this family run establishment.Steve was a very good host in the bar area. Booking in staff were very friendly. Joe was the Most genial of hosts at breakfast. The jokes were a tonic(nice guy too!!). "Mary", Joe`s Wife was also very pleasant to talk to. All in all a very pleasant stay. The refurbishments were... More

Great atmosphere encouraged by the Landlord in the bar/lounge area. Currently (2014) being renovated, some rooms finished, others not so choose at booking. Breakfast very good including haggis - we were a large party (20+) and they coped admirably. Bar meals OK but nothing special.

This is a great Hotel. A friendly welcome on arrival . Lovely en suite rooms . We used the hotel overnight to attend a nearby wedding and we were not disappointed . There is some ongoing refurbishment but this does not at all interfere with this great hotel and from what we saw they are doing the place up to... More

18 HD motorcyclists stopped here on our way to Thunder in the Glens. Good parking facilities and a warm welcome from the somewhat eccentric Irish proprietor and his hard working son Steve. My room was at the top and was pleasantly decorated and apart from some low beams( I am 6ft2ins) ouch very comfortable. The bar area was very welcoming... More

Stayed in a hotel about 3 miles down the road from this pub/b&b/restaurant. Asked at a B&B family were staying at if they recommended any were and they told us to give this place a try. It was easily found. When we walked in it was a very old fashioned place. The fire was going and there were only a... More

Stayed one night in August on route to Highlands , the room was large with comfortable bed and good shower. Superb fried breakfast and easy to park behind hotel or on the street. This is a very quiet town / location but just 2 mins from the motorway. This is an old traditional Inn with a bar and a nice... More

I booked the hotel very last minute due to a change in our holiday plans to the North East of Scotland. \Located ideally just of the motorway but far enough away so no noise. The owners and staff we very friendly and extremely helpful and polite. We had two dogs and they were very welcome by owners/staff and other guests/public... More

The Ecclefechan Hotel is very handily located just a couple of minutes off the motorway so an ideal spot for an overnight stay to break a long journey. As many other reviewers have said, it is a long-term work in progress and as such some of the downstairs areas are either in need of renovation or in the process of... More
