This is an excellent bed&breakfast for families, couples, as well as individual travellers. It's the ideal spot if you want to explore the Umbrian countryside and the many beautiful villages in the area, Lago Trasimeno and, of course, the magnificent city of Perugia. The large house and garden are located in one of the most beautiful countrysides I know, which... More

As part of a big trip through Italy, I spent 4 days at La Fratta earlier this month and it was easily one of the highlights. Imagine living in the Umbrian countryside, learning all about Raku ceramics, eating wonderful homemade Italian food, and visiting nearby small towns. Luca and Elisabetta took me as if I was part of the family.... More

I have stayed at La Fratta for a total of about 3.5 weeks during 3 different trips. I consider this my second Italian home, everything from the family that runs it to the art courses to the beautiful jewlery that is sold by Elisabetta, everything is beautiful and perfect. The two art classes that I took with Luca were amazing,... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
La Fratta is in Umbria, immersed in nature in the countryside around Marsciani, in the province of Perugia, close to Assisi and just a few kilometres from Todi and Deruta. Its location in the heart of Umbria will enable you to easily reach major art cities and Lake Trasimeno. La Fratta Art-house is an art centre and a vacation home. Open since 2001, La Fratta is also the home and studio of ceramist and sculptor Luca Leandri and his wife Elisabetta Corrao, his passionate collaborator and supporter, and friendly animator Remodelled according to the period of construction (end of the nineteenth century), the couple has added their personal touch in designing the interior decoration, with art work that shows the care and desire to recreate a new, warm, living space. Inside, there are rooms and apartments, services, expansive spaces for gathering and a collection of books on art and tourist itineraries on Umbria; outside, there is peace and quiet. You can relax in the spacious yard, a big pergola and a swimming pool. We generally give our guests advice on tourist itineraries, with special attention to art cities and rides through breathtaking landscapes. La Fratta is an ideal place to spend a vacation and at the same time experience art first hand by participating in courses and events organized throughout the year. In our courses, you can experiment with a wide range of ceramics techniques and applied arts activities. Our courses include: ceramics (raku, decoration, clay modelling, the wheel,...); sculpture and painting; mandala; children's courses on clay modelling, theatre, music; arts and practices connected with Zen philosophy held by Elisabetta, QiGong - TaiQiQuan lessons; preparatory courses in music Thanks to our collaboration with other artists and teachers who have been in touch with us or who come to La Fratta regularly, we organize events together with them. These are published in blogs and newsletters. ... more   less
