I am a Costa Rican and I know the Nosara area pretty well. My cousin and I decided to stay at Lagarta Lodge with the only goal of enjoying surf fishing at the Nosara River Mouth next door. Hence, we had unusual needs like getting up at 4:00 am, requesting breakfast between 9 and 10 am and showing up at... More

Stayed in the junior suite for 2 nights. - the view from the room is amazing - the room is sealed against bugs or insects - great natural lighting - even the bathroom has a view - breakfast is over the top impressive - the owners give you a welcome drink and chat with you - overall customer service is... We just spent three days at Lagarta Lodge and really enjoyed it. The drive there is long, dusty, and bumpy but it is worth it in the end. We stayed in a junior sweet, and it was an amazing experience. The rooms are modern, there is AC, a fridge and a little dining area overlooking the forest. There is a... More

Just wrote a negative review about the bad hotel we stayed in in Nosara recently. So wish we'd known about Lagarta before our trip. Went for breakfast and met a couple of other families who all agreed this was really the only place for families in Nosara. Sweet couple who run this small hotel and they seem to do it... More

This hotel was beautiful. Sitting on the deck to your room you overlook the jungle and the ocean. The owners are a very nice Swiss couple - and the breakfast is awesome!! I also had the cheesecake for dessert one night - heavenly. Rooms are clean and the maids do an excellent job. Only complaint was tiny little "noseeums" biting... More

Logarta Lodge is a gem and an oasis and has everything a five star hotel has to offer and more, but for a lot less money and much more flair. The Swiss owners (Regina and Amadeo) know how to run a hotel smoothly while adding their personal touch. They are ecologically oriented, something that is noticeable throughout the hotel, and... This was our first visit to Costa Rica and Lagarta lodge was perfect in so many ways. Amadeo and Regina were the kindest owners who were always there to answer questions and provide any information we needed. Views of the ocean and the reserve were so beautiful. We spent the days at the beach and loved going back up to... More

Hands down a wonderful experience. We arrived early, met the owner (originally from Sweden), and paid our nominal fee/donation to enter the park (maybe it was 6USD per person? maybe it was 12? I forget). We arrived a little later than I would have liked (7am) so we missed a pretty good chunk of a potential birding window, however... I... More

My wife and children stayed here during spring break, and we absolutely loved the lodge. Beautiful views and an easy walk down to the beaches. Our room was nice, and we had monkeys outside in the trees every morning. Really neat, and the kids loved it. The Swiss owners were very hospitable and quite nice, and they made sure all... More

Our family had a wonderful 6 nights at Lagarta Lodge. Amadeo and Regina, the owners, are warm and gracious, knowledgable about the area, and run a very clean hotel, at which everything is well maintained and the service is impeccable. Great food is eaten in an open air restaurant with views of the awe inspiring sunsets. The buildings are a... More
