I have been to Costa Rica many times and Bella Vista Mar is a beautiful place indeed. Clean, great views and sunsets but overall, I felt like I was staying at someone's house, like a bed and breakfast perhaps, and less like a hotel. It's very nice to be out of town on the hillside, but the commute into town... More

Hi Road Trip Girl, Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review for us. We are definitely a bed and breakfast - not a hotel, so the fact that you felt like you were in our home is not a bad thing. We don't have a bar or restaurant so it is quiet up here - just... More

I went with my wife in 2012 and we fell in love with this hotel. It is totally beautiful, the cleanliness, the quietness, the decoration, everything. It's located up in the hills (you need a car or a truck to go to the beach), so the view is AMAZING. The sunset left us speechless. You were able to hear the... More

This place is a little piece of paradise! Nosara is beautiful in and of itself, but this boutique hotel was so quaint and charming with incredible service. Alexa was there to answer any and every question we had with awesome recommendations for dinner. The hotel is located just a few minutes walk from the beach. It was instant relaxation upon... More

This is the place to stay if you go to Nosara. We stayed in the room called Marbella, with a great view over the Pacific. Nice and clean with a large bathroom. We were here to relax so we didn't have a car and it's not a problem to walk down to playa Pelada, it takes about 15 minutes. There... More

We LOVED our stay at Bella Vista Mar! Very nice view, clean rooms, friendly host who's always pleased to give us helpful information about Nosara's best beaches, restaurants, etc. This is just the best place for a girls getaway. At the menu: green smoothies in Nosara, yoga in the jungle, massage with the sounds of the rain, boogie boards with... More

The moment I stepped onto the grounds of this B&B, I knew I was "home"! : ) I had originally booked a two week stay, which then turned into a two month stay! I believe almost every room has an ocean view, but my room not only had what I believe the best view ever, but it also had this... More

After 3 raining days in Arenal it was paradise to stay a Bella Vista Mar in Nosara. We had two bedrooms on the top floor with an excellent view. The kids loved the pool and of course the hummingbirds and not to forget the hotel dog. You need a 4wd to reach the location and on your way you will... More

We just loved our stay at Bella Vista Mar. We had a great specious room which where perfectly cleaned every day. The breakfast, included in our stay, had refill of the best Costa Rican coffee, juice, fruit and your own choose of pancakes, omelet, french toast or the traditional Costa Rica breakfast freshly made just for you :-) The location... Best thing: the view, which is magnificent beyond description. Problems: the expat American owner was completely indifferent to us. We were made to feel that we were in the way. The young American woman 'working' there as staff (?) serving breakfast had no interest in us. There was a water problem for a day. The pool water is too warm--... More

Thank you for your review. We use every review in our staff meetings so that we can better understand how to provide better service. We work to change the things that we can, however, living in a developing country provides challenges that sometimes we are not able to control. It is true that you were here the one weekend in... Stayed at this place for 2 days. No running water the whole time. We kept being told it was only out for a few hours and that it would be back ASAP. We could not shower. I had to haul water from the swimming pool to flush the toilet. Brushed my teeth with bottled water. No contrition, no refund. They... More

Thank you for your review, and we can understand your displeasure. We too felt very bad about the entire situation. As was explained to your group leader (and I believe yourselves) when you arrived: Guanacaste (the province we live in) has problems with water at this time of year. The rainy season last year did not fill the reservoirs sufficiently... More
