Congratulations on giving us a wonderful finish to our holiday. When we arrived we thought to ourselves ‘we are in the middle of nowhere what are we going to do with ourselves?’ We soon found out that doing nothing was pretty good. We loved everything about our stay. The villas were amazing giving you privacy when you wanted it coupled... more

We decided to get married at Unguja Lodge and then have some days honeymoon before moving on to Matemwe Bunglalows (no comparison!). It is hard to express in words just how perfect our stay at Unguja was. The owners, Ralph and Elies, did absolutely everything possible for us to make it a stay to remember for a lifetime. Hotel location-... more

The sea view bungalow was an interesting design and very spacious. It would have been improved if the cupboards in the bedroom did not smell though. The staff were, on the whole, lacking in friendliness apart from one or two of the waiters. The local residents seemed pretty unwelcoming in comparison with other places we've stayed at in Africa. The... more

This was a second location on our honeymoon and we were really blown away by the place and the people. The location is stunning with exceptional service. The food beautiful, service exceptional and we were very sad to leave. The local village is fascintating and if you chat up the diving instuructor they will walk you round - we happened... more

We stayed at Unguja and it was really great! What a beautiful lodge and great locations. It was perfect and relaxing after our 5 day safari and the staff suplied us with many great coctails. The rooms are really spacious, beautifully decorated and we had an amazing view at the oceand We saw many dolphins and the snorkeling was just... more

I guess I had never been anywhere before so worthy of a good review! My husband and I visited Unguja lodge as the first stop of our two and a half week honeymoon... more

I was looking for a holiday a bit different and special to celebrate my 60th Birthday in January 2009 with my wife and grown-up daughter and son. A UK travel agent (“PureZanzibar”) recommended Unguja Lodge, as they had one family villa with just the right accommodation for us (three en-suite bedrooms and air-conditioning). I booked this in early July 2008,... more

Stayed here on the second week of our honeymoon. Upon arrival we were greeted by the Dutch host (nice to hear your own language in a foreign place). We stayed in one of the rooms with a beach view. Great. The suite was very large and clean. The tea service in the morning was a great touch. Food was good,... more

There is no denying that this place is amazing. The rooms are beyond enormous. So big in fact that you won't use but half of them. They are decorated in a simple but beautiful fashion. The couple that run the resort are wonderfully friendly. The pool is very nice. The food is fantastic. And yet I am left with a... more

We liked this place; the food, the people, the rooms and the no fuss relaxation offered. There are only ten rooms which makes for a less package holiday experience and are designed with a blend of safari and Arabic and are a pleasure to be in with lots of open aspect and views of the sea a few metres away... more
