We stayed at Unguja Lodge for our honeymoon in August, and I must say that it was one of the most beautiful places I have aver stayed at!! The service is impeccable, and the accommodation is second to none!! First of all the lodges themselves...... man are they HUGE!!! When we walked in my jaw dropped to the floor. And... More

We have had the most magical holiday ever staying at this wonderful lodge. We were made to feel so welcome by the owners and staff, all going out of their way to make sure our holiday was the best holiday ever. Even teaching us the traditional game of BOA.... :-) The traditional rooms, pool, restaurant, fabulous beach and dive centre... More

What a wonderful and magic place for relaxing and refreshing after safari. We had such a nice time, watching wales, walking on the beach, shelling and listening to the sound of Sanzibar day and night. Very friendly staff and creative kitchen, fantastic house with a wonderful sea view, spaceful and nice decorated. We would come ever again. And: dont't forget... More

What a lovely hotel. Right on a glorious stretch of beach in a charming part of Zanzibar. The African style cottage rooms are spacious and very well designed to suit the setting. Staff take their tone from the very hospitable owners who ensure everyone is well looked after and having a good time. They are charming and have a smooth... More

After 6 nights, any stress in our bodies melted into the Indian Ocean. Every detail in this idyllic family run boutique hotel is spot on. From the spacious lodges, to the in-house dive school, the relaxed but professional staff to the superb fresh fish menu. The little touches such as the oil lit hurricane lamps at night, locally hand made... More

If you want bright lights and discos then this is not the place for you. If you want any of: excellent accomodation, quality fresh food with a local twist, sea breezes, diving, extremely welcoming staff, likeminded guests (both families and couples), relaxing without a care in the world (other than the stress of selecting a cocktail before dinner), then Unguja... We stayed here after climbing Kilimanjaro last year (sorry for the late review guys!) and what a welcome retreat it was! The lodge is stunning and accommodation is first class. The size of the villas was amazing and it was a perfect way to spend a week in a dream location. Open air (private) showers in the villa are also... More

We stayed here for five nights, after five nights of safari. Therefore we wanted a location we could relax and rest at. The lodge provided exactly that. It's a family run lodge, which provides an intimate and friendly environment. The staff are extremely helpful. The standard of food and service was excellent. We stayed within the hotel most of the... More

Hi Rolf and Elise! Hope all's well, and I know that this review is very belated (and you possibly don't even remember us), but given that the opportunity to go on tripadvisor to review it has appeared, I thought better late than never! We stayed here in the summer of 2012 (ignore the date given in the later section- it... More

Thank you very much for taking the time to write this wonderful review, even after two years. We are very glad you and the family enjoyed your stay in Unguja Lodge. We couldn't believe the size of out 'hut' and loved the fact that half of it was open to the sea, including the shower! It was so relaxing and enjoyable we were spoiled with extra touches because we were on honeymoon... All the restaurant and bar staff including Omari 1, 2 and 3 and Joseph provided excellent service as well... More
