Great Lodge on the beach. The lodge incorporates very well with the environment, Len & Alastain with their great team will ensure you are comfortable. The pool ever welcoming, certified PADI on site for your snorkeling. Food very fresh. Located on a cliff and in the evening you can see Dar es Salaam on the straight channel

After a physical two weeks I needed a rest before a second spell of action. Although reticent about staying on a beach for five nights on my own these concerns were completely unnecessary. My bungalow was excellent with lots of space and privacy and its own entertainment of the sea view and wildlife. It was clean comfortable and a delight... More

The bungalows are well done with lots of space. The only problem was two rooms were upstairs and it was tough to get luggage up. The lighting was only fair but each bed had a head lamp for reading. They also had air conditioning which worked well. Ceiling fans were also in each room.

The lodge is in Southern Zanzibar, definitely off the beaten track. It is in a beautiful location. Stunning 2 bedroom villas, small resort on the coast. The villas were beautifully appointed, and mosquito management was excellent. The villas were open plan, and beautifully fits in with environment. Heat control was excellent due to lay out of villas, roof design and... More

We stayed for 5 nights at Unguja lodge finishing here after safari at Selous and a stay in Stone Town all organised brilliantly by Imagine Africa. It really is a beautiful place and as everyone else has said the lodges are amazing (bigger than our house!) You are instantly made to feel really welcome by all the staff who are... More

There are places we travel to and know as soon as we arrive that there is something special about that place. Unguja has that feeling. The property is set up so that it has a very private feel. The location is stunning! The view from our villa #12 was spectacular and we spent lots of time on the little bench... More

Staffed by the local community and managed by the lovely Sophia this was a 5 night finale to our Tanzanian safari holiday. The lodges are outstanding with enough room to host the entire village to tea! The facilities are superb and nothing is too much trouble. Food excellent, service faultless. 5 star without the accompanying pretensions. Thank you for a... More

Unguja Lodge lies across the straits from Dar Es Salaam, and is a delightful place to unwind, especially after the demands of the safari or the rush of Stone town. Delightful swimming pools, fascinating beach views and a generous family size lodge, Unguja is well established and runs smoothly. The staff, especially in the kitchen and bar, are very friendly... Just had the best time at Unguja Lodge. The beach, pool, staff, accommodation, environment all perfect. Very relaxing and we couldn't have been looked after better. Particularly enjoyed the monkeys visiting the breakfast buffet every day and their frequent visits to the pool ( even though the staff encouraged them to leave!). Visually beautiful place, views of the Indian Ocean... More
