Fabulous small lodge with great service and staff. The villas (of which there are only 11)are HUGE and wonderfully located, plenty of room and a fabulous view if you get a sea facing one. We booked two, one for us and one for our teenager daughters but actually one would have been ample. Food was delicious, great fish, good meat... More

We stayed for 7 nights at Unguja Lodge after a 6 day safari on the mainland. We had a family house with three bedrooms all en-suite, as well as another outside shower/bathroom and a cracking sea view. The complex is small and intimate and has a great family feel to it, with a nice mix of couples and families of... More

Had a great time at Unguja lodge on the second part of our honeymoon. We wanted to relax after the busy wedding period and long days of safari an were able to do so here. The pool area and beach are superb. Food was very good and there was always something on the menu we looked forward to trying. There... More

Thank you very much for staying with us last month and for writing this very nice and informative review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay, the food, the water activities and the villas. Arrived exhausted after 8 days safari in Serengeti and Selous (see other reviews) to this amazing little resort in the least touristy part of Zanzibar. The villa's are stunning in architecture (and views as well if you choose a sea view one), lying apart from each other to give this exclusive privacy feel to it. Ours was nr 12, the... More

The huge open plan lodges overlooking the liberating views of the sea are spectacular but what really makes this place is the atmosphere and the ethos. The staff and owners are very friendly, great company and full of interesting insight to the local area. The work that has gone into being an active part of the local community is highly... More

We stayed for 5 nights in this marvellous place in early March. The whole lodge is fantastically designed, taking into account the environment and animals (including the monkeys which, if you're not careful, will steal any food you leave out - in the nicest possible way - they're not aggressive at all). When we were shown to our apartment, we couldn't... The short version Very nice place to relax and go swimming with dolphins. Beautiful grounds and sea, very nice pool. Many fun and interesting animals live on the grounds. But all this comes at a hefty price even with meals included. Food is somewhat uninteresting and management could be more forthcoming, Who/why/what 2 adults (aged 43) and two children (11,... More
