We have just returned from our week's holidays to this amazing place. Thank you so much Monsieur Montel (General Manager) for making our stay such a unique experience. Your hotel is fabulous, your staff always go the extra mile to ensure that we get the best. The spa is stunning. The villas are impressive. The location of The Residence is... More

More

Having looked at a few honeymoon destinations we pushed the boat out and went for 10 nights at The Residence Zanzibar and we were not disappointed. From arrival to departure we were in what felt like heaven. We were greeted by warm and friendly staff and this set the tone for the rest of our stay. The food was incredible... More

Me and my girlfriend we stay in residence of Zanzibar, it is a beautiful Hotel, the pool in the villas are exremely, but the service not for the five stars Hotels as we use to get, the beach not very beautiful especially in low tide. But we love the hotel and we may return if the price will not keep... More

I agree with the fierce critic who asserts that The Residence is somewhat hermetically sealed. And I also agree that, culturally, its links with Zanzibar are tenuous. But I think that the reviewer, while thorough, is rather unfair – visitors are hardly imprisoned on this marvellous oasis. I'd approach a review from a different angle altogether. And I should know... More

Undoubtedly this is a very impressive property visually, but you could be at any hotel anywhere in the world. It exists in a vacuum. Hermetically sealed from the rest of the island. Shut off from the sights, sounds and culture that is Zanzibar. Since opening, the management of this hotel have poached staff from other hotels around the island and... More

I am a Pure Zanzibar agent and I stayed at the Residence in November 2011. I soon realised that if you are looking for resort style accommodation on Zanzibar, this is the top of the list. The villas are nothing short of stunning, large and luxurious. Each villa comes with a pool big enough to do lengths, and deep enough... More

Five stars private villas along the indian ocean with private pools, infinite 40 meter main pool, two extraordinary restaurants, carefull and efficient staff, it is paradise! The villas are well decorated, spacious and very pleasant. Special bonus for the luxury bathrooms. The private pools are big enough to have a relaxing swim. The beach, when it's high tide, is really... More

My girls, aged 7 & 11, and I stayed here for about 10 days. If there is a "7" Star Hotel, this is it!! Really! It has a breath taking view of the ocean. And clean white sandy beaches! The rooms are spacious and beautifully designed, not to mention the out of this world restroom design! The staff were so... More

The Residence is by far the best place in the world. Nice beach, nice food (and I'm French), private pools in which you can actually swim, very good management. They treat you like you are the queen of England and their breakfast is spectacular. It is definitely a must do.
