The cabins overlooking the ocean are nice but overpriced at around $50. They're bare minimum and you have to climb down stairs and walk 50 mt to the public restrooms. The restrooms and showers have a curtain that barely covers you from the those passing on the path right outside. I wouldn't mind these and other inconveniences at a hostel... More

Dear Ang_SF We're always disappointed to hear that guests didn't enjoy their stay at the Surf House, and we are sorry we failed to meet your expectations during your stay. Our beachfront bungalows are indeed very basic. We hope we had not led on that they were more luxurious than they are. I understand you feel they are overpriced. They... More

The Paredon Surf House is one of my favourite places to stay in the whole world. I took my boyfriend there for his first time in November and he was blown away with it's beauty, tranquility, relaxing atmosphere and amazing food. Having been there many times in previous years, I knew what to expect, but even I was taken back... More

I stayed at the surfhouse for 10 nights and had an amazing time there. It's perfect to get away from all the stress and still have stuff to do. There's the surfing, one time even with dolphine passing by. You can go and see huge turtles in the nature and float on the river right next to them, because the... More

My friend and I spent a weekend here (in the middle of a two week trip to Antigua) with our 4 daughters ranging from age 3 1/2 - 14. Everyone loved it. The surf lessons were fun and the shaded pool was a perfect way to get out of the sun and still stay cool. The food was delicious (but... More

we had a really nice stay there. the locals were super friendly, the little turtles were very cute. Fantastic location in an untouched piece of heaven, this is what worried us the most. Allegedly as we have heard from the manager they spray outdoor (!) every 2 month to kill the mosquitos and make the stay of the guests even... More

Dear Eszter S, Thank you for your comments. First of all, we're really happy to hear that you had such a great time visiting our place! We hope you will come back and visit us again soon. We hear your concerns, and appreciate the feedback regarding our mosquito abatement program. Unfortunately in Guatemala we have to deal with mosquito-borne infectious... More

Surf House is my favorite place in Guatemala. It is off the beaten path, relaxing, great food, great people, very clean. Surfing lessons are worth while. he beach is crazy hot, but cools off nicely at night. New Years Eve here is a great time. I would definitely stay longer if I make it back.

We live at Lake Atitlan and wanted to explore Guatemala's Pacific coast and just chill for a couple days. We couldn't have picked a better place. The beach here is great. The surf can be strong, so know your limits. The atmosphere is very relaxed, with interesting people from all over the world. Many were surfing (this is known as... More

We have been staying at Paredon frequently for at least three years and love the place. A different daily rhythm: get up at first light, enjoy the sunrise and surf or walk on the beach, have breakfast, perhaps a bit more surfing, and then relax and read in the shade before and after lunch. Perhaps a bit more surfing in... More

Be aware that it is in a small village 1 hour from the nearest medical facility. A young man, who was staying at this hotel while I was there, drowned and died while swimming in the ocean outside the hotel. The rip currents are seriously strong and the waves are not for novice surfers, they break hard and steep. He... More

Dear Honest T, We, the owners, and the entire Paredon Surf House family were absolutely devastated by the ocean drowning death of one of our hotel guests. It's still unclear what led this accident to happen, as the man had been swimming alone. At that time, the surf was 2-3 ft, and it was mid-tide. While rip currents can be... More

I LOVED my trip to the surf house. If you are looking to live like a surfer beach bum with some luxury and amazing food I would highly suggest Surf House. Everything is amazing from the breathtaking views, unreal sunrises and sunsets, outdoor showers, rooms, community dinners, beach, waves and people. I fell in love with surfing here and the... More
