I don't know which to put first: Casa Fontana, Ron and Susi, Barga, or the Garfagnana itself. All were stupendous and immensely surprising. Ron and Susi could not have been more welcoming and helpful, providing maps, directions, dinner reservations, local insights, wine in the garden, and their incredible breakfast spreads. Don't come here looking for red carpet concierge hotel service.... More

Casa Fontana is a delightful B&B where you can truly put your feet up, breathe the fresh mountain air, and forget about life for awhile! My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights in October and loved every minute of our stay. As so many reviewers have already noted, Suzi and Ron are the most gracious hosts, who can't... More

As the title says, I think just about every superlative to describe Ron and Susi, and their b&b Casa Fontana have already been used by previous reviewers. I will simply put it this way, do yourself a favour, just go to Casa Fontana, and you will see what everyone is talking about is true in every sense. I can back... More

My objective for this trip as a first time solo traveler was to become intimately familiar with Barga and surrounding villages, to search the cemeteries and walk the donkey trails used by my grandfathers long ago. I could not have made a better choice than Casa Fontana. Traveling alone can be awkward but not with such graceful hosts as Ron... More

We stayed at the little one-bedroom house that Ron and Susi sometimes rent out in the summer. Our welcome could not have been warmer, and the views from the balcony under the trees made you feel like an eagle in an eyrie. We were given an incredibly helpful run-down on all the local restaurants and places to go, supplemented by... More

If you want plasma TV, soulless room fittings, and no local knowledge on your surroundings, this is not the place for you! Instead you get a fantastic welcome by the hosts (Ron and Susi), inspiring mountain views from the moment you raise your head from the pillow, superb local produce and great restaurant advice/places to visit etc. Casa Fontana is... Ron and Susi run Casa Fontana rather like a house party with breakfast (excellent by the way) at one table for all the guests. This was my second visit and my wife and I hope to return next year. What were the best bits? Well our bedroom was spotless and the en-suite likewise but our balcony that enabled us to... More

We stayed at the house that Ron and Susie rent out in the summer for our honeymoon. We arrived shattered and worn out after all the wedding fuss to relax in their amazing place, they couldn't do enough and the pictures do not do the place justice. A perfect first week of married life, we will definitely be back in... More

If you are looking for a genuine warm friendly welcome with excellent accomodation, great breakfasts and lots of local knowledge and information thrown in, then look no further than Casa Fontana. Susi and Ron are wonderful hosts and we can't thank them enough for making our stay such a pleasure. Our friends came to visit for an afternoon and we... More
