Set up a small lane, Fothergills was an idyllic stay for 2 of our nights on our trip from Wellington to Auckland. We were very warmly welcomed by Bev, Hilton and Mo the dog and shown to our apartment. We had 2 bedrooms, one king one twin, a shower room and kitchen area. All well decorated and amenities in plentiful... More

Our family (2 adults, 2 young children) stayed in the cottage. It was relaxing and comfortable, the Fothergills were lovely, it's a great property for the kids to explore, and plenty of beaches and towns nearby.

Bev and Hilton have inner sense for hospitality and warmth. Their attention to visitors' needs stretches beyond expectation. They are many years in this business and yet everything looks brand new, cozy and charming. Comfortable beds turn your sleep into a bliss. Cleanliness is excellent. The place provides privacy and magnificent views, and at the same time it is close... More

This sort of response gives us such pleasure. We provide what we ourselves would like, and really appreciate when people like you take the trouble to report back. The fact that we love what we do helps too! More

It has been an absolute privilege to meet such an inspirational couple as Bev and Hilton on our journey through New Zealand. We have stayed at a number if excellent places over three weeks but this was the best. We shall always remember this special piece of 'heaven' . We were lucky enough to find a vacancy at this B & B on a wet New Year's Day. After days on the road and remote camping this was pure luxury. What a find!!! The gardens are immaculate and manicured just like out of a magazine! We were welcomed like family by the hosts. The accommodation is generous in separate... More

I stayed at Bev and Hiltons B & B for 4 nights, what a lovely experience! This was my first experience staying at a B & B and Bev and Hilton have set the standard very high indeed. They have thought of every detail in their accommodation, just wonderful. The garden, even though I saw it in spring it was... More

If you're looking for a home away from home, this couple will provide you with just that. I've learnt Whakatane is all about the people, and Bev and Hilton are no exception. If you're looking for somewhere your hosts will go above and beyond to ensure you are looked after, look no further.

We stayed 6 nights and were very impressed. Bev and Hilton were very hospitable, helpful, friendly, informative and very good company. The self-contained "flat" was extremely comfortable, and the breakfasts were delicious and healthy including the wonderful home-made preserves and muesli - with ingredients coming from the beautiful garden. Exceptional attention to detail and meticulously clean. No hesitation in recommending... More

We stayed two nights at Fothergills in their B&B, two adults and two children. On arrival we were welcomed by Bev and Hilton, they are so warm and friendly, you will love them straight away! We all did. Within an hour of arriving we were sipping champange and eating nibbles with Bev and Hilton and the guests from the cottage.... More
