There are many places to choose to stay along the coast along the Bay of Plenty, but Whakatane is a perfect blend of quiet beauty and numerous attractions. And staying at Afresco B&B fit that wonderfully. Neil and Sue were gracious and warm hosts, sharing evening cocktails with us as we swapped experiences and they gave us information about the... We stayed for one night at Alfresco B&B and were met by host Neil with afternoon tea - home baked tart and tea or coffee. Our room was very comfortable with lovely linen and garden roses by the bedside. We then joined Neil and Sue for nibbles and drinks in the lounge prior to dinner. We had arranged for Neil... More

My husband, my dad and I spent three nights in the very best B&B that we've been so far (and we've seen many!)...it was an absolutely amazing experience! We had both rooms, which were comfortable, cozy and clean! We enjoyed a perfectly cooked and continental breakfast in the morning, got our laundry done, had some sweet treats in our room... More

We stayed here for 4 days R&R during our trip and also to visit White Island. We cannot praise Neil and Sue's hospitality enough - from daily port and chocolates in our room to the delicious food and even filling our kettle for us every day so that we could make our own tea! Nothing was too much trouble and... More

Neil and sue are excellent hosts who have achieved a first class standard in B&B. All aspects excellent particularly the canapés and drinks and the opportunity to chat to neil and sue and other guests. In whakatane the white island tour is a must.

Neil and Sue make a great team and have obviously worked very hard to establish their b&b at the top end of the market. They seem to have achieved this by their attention to detail in every aspect of the provision they have made for guests. A great welcome, the extras such as the wonderful baking, and the decanter of... More

Neil and Sue are warm and gracious hosts in their two room B and B. Our room was very comfortable with tea, coffee, freshly baked tarts, port, and chocolates. A well stocked mini-fridge had wines and beer for purchase, which we found to be very thoughtful. They readily offered to drive us to and from restaurants and shared their favorite... More

We had a 1 night stay occupying both of the gorgeous en-suite bedrooms that Neil and Sue have to offer their guests. Our arrival was greeted by home baked 'afternoon tea' and a friendly welcome from our hosts. After a chat and glass or two of wine on the patio, we were offered an evening meal of freshly caught fish... More

This was our 16th B&B in 6 weeks in New Zealand and is defiantly in the top two or three, it is in a good location and the rooms are beautiful, and the hosts Neil and Sue are delightful, we had drinks every night and great discussions about our days and our travels. The breakfast are fantastic and they also... More

We were in New Zealand for 4 weeks and this was absolutely the nicest place we stayed. The house, room and gardens were all wondrful but it was Niel(the host) made our stay a memorable experience. The breakfasts were yummy and Niels Paella on the deck one night for supper was outstanding. Niel borrowed me his golf clubs one day... More
