We were on a 35 day self drive tour of NZ when I set my GPS on this place. We found ourselves driving into a gravel road enveloped in trees, moving up a mountainside. Finally we come to a clearing and here is a beautiful house and our smiling hostess greeting us. Evelyne and her husband purpose built this B&B... More

If you want peace and quiet, fantastic views, private balcony, a lovely welcoming host called Evelyne and a lovely breakfast that keeps you going till evening, then this is the place for you. All rooms have a generous en-suite and large bedroom which are very light and airy - the only sound you can hear are the birds in the... More

What more can I say! all the reviews are accurate. Start to end Evelyn treated us like important guests with her friendly manner nothing was too much trouble. Her attention to detail was amazing not to mention the art works adorning all the walls. We had what was called the 'honeymoon' suite (we have been married 39 years though)! The... More

Very enjoyable stay due to the lovely owner Evelyn. Delicious breakfasts and Evelyn set us off in the right direction every day with a list of planned activities. Without her local knowledge I'm sure we would not have enjoyed Coromandel as much. Comfortable rooms with great views furnished in colourful 80s style so slightly quirky. Very quiet, thoroughly recommended, easy... More

Evelyn cooked a special delicious anniversary meal for us and provided a modern comfortable suite for our 3 night stay. She was most helpful in helping with reservations and a joy to converse with about life on the Coramandel Peninsula.

The drive to Evelyn's "Alpine" retreat is quite a challenge for a small engined hire car but the effort is well rewarded on arrival. A truly stunning property with fantastic views owned by a charming and caring hostess. We thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay and recommend it very highly.

We had a wonderful stay at "Buffalo Lodge". The most tranquil place you're ever likely to stay! Evelyn is an exceptional hostess, and left us with extremely fond memories of both herself as well as her beautiful corner of the Coromandel Peninsular. Our en suite room was not over fussy but comfortable and we had the best sleep we had... More

This was our second stay at this beautiful, esthetically perfect place after 13 years. Evelyne is still the same great hostess and cook. Spectacular views from all the rooms and no unfulfilled wishes. For European travellers it should be noted that Evelyne is not only mastering Mandarin and English but also French, German and even Swiss German as she worked... More

A beautiful place in the hills above Coromandel village. Evelyn helps in many ways to make your stay a great experience. We had the back room with unbelievable vistas. The house is reminiscent of an alpine retreat - a result of her late swiss husband. The dining area is three walls of glass allowing you to watch the birds dart... More

Coromandel is a wonderful place to visit and a stay at Buffalo Lodge enhances it. Evelyn has a beautiful home and shares it with you. The rooms are stunning and the breakfast provided comes from her garden and her chickens is delicious. The view is to be believed. We really enjoyed it there.
