We stopped by for a meal and a look at the place. It is oddly away from some of the best beaches in the world and locked into a little valley of no particular note. The villas are close together and even in the carpark we could hear children loudly in one villa - it probably could be heard in... More

We stumbled across this retreat when driving the windy and dusty road from Kennedy Bay to Port Charles. Even though the place was officially closed for wedding preparation the next day, the staff were very friendly, welcoming and chatty supplying us with much needed beers. We were able to walk around the grounds and inspect the lodges. It is a... More

Just had two nights at this hidden gem. Beautiful bush, fantastic birdlife all here. The chalet was all we could have asked for, lovely natural timber, nice linen and toiletries. Fully self contained kitchen, CD player, fireplace. Private outdoor spas where you can relax and look at the stars and listen to the birds in the evening were just great... More

A couple of girlfriends and I left partners and kids behind to head here for the weekend and it was everything we hoped for. The chalet we stayed in was beautifully built and furnished - everything was finished to a super-high spec. Being the middle of winter, we'd all packed plenty of thermal clothing, partly expecting to be wearing it... More

This place really grows on you. We had a long, beautiful drive to get there but my first impression was of a fairly ugly set of low-rise buildings. Then we discovered our accommodation - a stand-alone chalet - was huge, and everything was good from here on. We were given directions to a nearby waterfall - just follow the stream... More

We love this place! Quality fittings make the rooms truly stylish and the privacy and space strike a very welcome contrast to the bustle of city life. The spa pools, set in native bush, are a great way to end the day. The food is wonderful and very reasonably priced. We have been twice and in winter the huge fire... More

This was our wedding anniversary escape! My husband and I regularly spend time travelling to the top of the Coromandel Peninsula and we have always wanted to stay at Tangiaro, so this seemed like the perfect reason. Lucky for us our wedding anniversary was on the same weekend as the Paua Festival that Tangiaro have organised and hosted for the... More

Definitely for those who want to get away from it all as this superb accommodation is at least 1.5 hours drive north of Coromandel near Port Charles. Most of the drive is on unsurfaced bendy road with superb views. Be sure to get all your provisions in Coromandel before you make this trip. The accommodation has a restaurant but there... More

We booked a last minute holiday, so I have to admit that I ended up booking this resort because I was having a hard time finding a room on January 1st. We were all pleasantly surprised upon arriving. The location is very remote and peaceful. If you need to escape, this is the place to do it. Beautiful surroundings and... More
