We were going to drive back to Auckland after exploring the area, but stopped because of the beautiful location, luckily getting the last room. The owners were great hosts, very friendly and helpful with ideas for the area. We were metres from the water, awesome sunset! The king bed was very comfortable and the bedroom and lounge room looked out... More

This motel is homely and comfortable with very caring owners who go out of their way to ensure your stay is enjoyable. We had a two bedroom unit which was well laid out and with having the ranch slider off the lounge gave us a lovely view of the sea. Good to be able to walk out of the unit... More

We booked The Seapray motel from the info centre in Thames. It was suggested That we pick up provisions. Before we drove to the motel We were given a warm kiwi welcome by the lady who was looking after the motel for the owners. Don't expect a modern motel, it is clean, comfortable, and on a cold rainy night very... More

My husband and I spent two nights here and really enjoyed it. There are only 6 rooms, each with a balcony and just 3 meters from the water. Several of the guests were successful at fishing right from their balcony. The owners are very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They can answer any questions and are available to take care of... This was the best place we stayed in NZ. Talk about value for money. The hospitality was special. The couple that manages makes it even better. The view is hard to beat with beautiful sunsets, a BBQ, TV (who needs that in this setting?) old wooden chairs in the garden to watch the sunsets. Our neighbour dropped a line into... More

Nice little unit with basic no-frills essentials and good price of $80 for double. Right on rocky shoreline on beautiful Thames Coast coastal road. Water a bit murky, but clears progressively as you travel north until exceptional clarity and fabulous (narrow, metalled) scenic road north of Colville to Port Jackson

What a view! We spent our three evenings at Seaspray admiring the sunset from large rustic wooden chairs set up at the seawall. Who needs TV when there is that to admire? We really could just about dabble our feet in the water as we watched the gorgeous sunset. We stayed in the studio unit, which has a double bed... More

Gorgeous little motel literally right on the waters edge! Self contained studio apartment with amazing views of firth of Thames. Extremely clean and comfortable. Very friendly host. Bed a bit squishy but still slept well. Nearby pub for dinner very cheap and lovely garden setting. Would definitely want to stay longer next time!

Super friendly and helpful manager. The view cant be beat. At one point we even changed the furniture around a bit so we could sit together and look out at the sunset together from the room. We have never enjoyed such a spectacular display before. The colors changed from fiery reds, through burning amber colors into cool purples and finally... More

We had been driving for hours when we pulled up at this place, and what a delight it was - from its wonderfully retro decor, to the french doors leading out on to a little deck overlooking a couple of metres of grassed area between us and the sea. If only we had packed a fishing line! A separate bedroom,... More
