Travelling North to Caithness we decided to avoid an expensive and time-consuming detour into the traffic-jam of Inverness (or Aviemore) by stopping in the historic village of Carrbridge. Good call! Oh dear - a wee bit unfair!! However we did fail here and were miserable about the review. We are just a wee highland village Pub - one day we can do 3 Bar Lunches -the next 30!! Our Scampi is Brakes finest and our Peas are frozen!! Our plates are NOT side plates. Our main courses are around £6.95...

After enjoying our stay some 18 years ago we returned and the hotel is now even better. For anyone wanting a friendly pub atmosphere come evening time coupled with a great place to stay then the Cairn Hotel is the place to stay. I've stayed in this hotel a few times over the years and would highly recommend it. When I used to get the train to Carrbridge the owners were happy to pick us up at the station and drop us back off, they even came out to find us once when we got lost in the woods! I'd describe it as... more

Stayed for just 1 night as part of our travels around Scotland. Lovely place to stay,very quaint with a good lively bar & friendly locals. Food was also very good. Would stay again. more
