The Thatched Cottage is a lovely listed building. It's spotlessly clean with large rooms, ( we occupied the 'Forde' room) which was very quiet. Very big bathroom with powerful shower, The restaurant is 'first class' and serves excellent breakfasts. Unfortunately due to meeting relatives who live in Wells we didn't eat at the hotel in the evenings. Chris, his wife... More

Until you've had a steak at the Thatched, then you haven't had a steak! It''s simply as good as it gets. Just love it . . . The belly of pork is a bit special, too, not to mention their home-made burgers --- it''s a lovely place.

Two friends introduced me to the Thatched Cottage for dinner last week. So close to home and so wonderful. Great ambience and decor, clean, smart and comfortable areas...bar, seating, dining. The food was top notch, Chef's Special was the lovely crispy duck on a bed of puy lentils with lots of flavoursome additions. The sausage and mash were best I've... More

Luke greeted us on our arrival with a friendly smile and happy attitude. Our room was clean, tidy and very comfortable. The restaurant food was excellent and very reasonably priced as well as very filling. Breakfast was exactly the same and left us feeling quite bloated. The staff are really friendly and helpful. All in all this was a first class... More

Attended a wedding at Pennard House & stayed at the Thatched Cottage for 2 nights. Very impressed with facilities in the room - lovely bed linen, towels & robes. Also fab coffee/tea making tray compete with biscuits & a cafetière with sachets of ground coffee - perfect. Plenty of cups & glasses too! Sofa & bathroom slightly dated but it... More

I stayed at this lovely little place at the beginning of July, I was down in Somerset for a friends wedding, and was the perfect base for getting around. We got a lovely little room nicely decorated with a comfy bed (The room name was Cranmore) Breakfast was lovely, one morning I had Full English and the next the delicious... More

Spent a night in this hotel. Rooms spacious, massive bathroom, very clean and a lovely big comfortable bed. Had an evening meal, steak, chips, mushroom and tomato, and partner had pork, black pudding Rossi and veg, followed by Eton mess and sticky toffee pudding. With a drink came to £45.00 ish. Nice little beer garden. Not much around but we... More

Stayed here as it was 1 min drive from my customer on a 3 day business trip - staying close to site means a longer lye in before a long day! Stayed in the Cranmore room - room was quite nice - can't fault it really comfy bed, good ensuite facilities but as it was the hottest day for 10... More

Hotel is in a quiet location (we stayed mid-week) and has large, comfortable rooms. Breakfast (provided) was fine, but not a huge choice. Wifi very restricted in hotel room, but works fine in the corridor. Room would be enhanced by a fridge. Staff and service a bit slow but who's in a hurry on holidays? Close to Cheddar Gorge.

Went for dinner here. I have marinated figs pickled walnuts and Stilton salad and my partner has the mushroom rissoto. It was fantastic one of the best pub meals we have since being in the uk. It was freshly made and very tasty. Totally recommend a visit if you are in Shepton Mallet.
