The two owners, Martin and Leonard, take great care to offer just the right level of hospitality and friendliness. I had specific diet needs and my comment on the booking was followed up with an email with options suitable for me before I arrived. All through our stay they were there to chat if wanted and keep away if not.... More

We have just said goodbye to relatives from America who came and stayed at Bowlish House, which is not far from our cottage. It was once a chic venue for dinner or a party, but had fallen from its heights to become a bit shabby and disappointing in the last few years. Now, however, new owners have completely reinvented it,... More

We had several rooms booked for a weekend celebration for family and friends. It was the highlight of a month-long trip around the UK. The owners/managers, Martin and Leonard, were very welcoming and the very best of hosts, going out of their way to make our stay so enjoyable. The rooms were very clean and well-equipped with new bathroom, free... More

We got married at Bowlish House last Thursday and couldn't have wished for a better hotel. The hosts and staff were friendly, accommodating, efficient and couldn't have done more to make us feel welcome & special. We had lunch, wedding breakfast & supper and all food was fantastic.....compliments & thanks to the chef. Bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious and very... More

Had our caving club 79th annual dinner for 80 guests. All food service on time, well organised and Martin the manager was polite, helpful and very kind. Good value for money, beautiful hotel, plenty of staff for a large event and all helpful and friendly. We highly recommend this place for private functions for under 80 guests. Our event took... Perhaps the negative reviewer would be more suited to a modern Travelodge type of property, yes floorboards do creak on a property of this age, this is a country house hotel with bags of character, the hosts are very welcoming, the owners dog often to be found asleep in the hall, I understand slowly the building is being renovated. Food... More

Beautiful building with lots of character, excellent breakfast included with room, friendly staff who were keen to help and very polite, very clean. Some road noise if you are a light sleeper but staff very quick to resolve this by offering an alternative room further from the road. Yes there are creaky floorboards but this does not affect sleep as... More

Excellent food, service and a great nights sleep. We had an excellent breakfast with a great choice of cooked breakfast and juices. Beds were very comfortable with new mattresses. The floorboards did creak a little what else would expect from a listed property! Anyone who wouldn't enjoy their stay here couldn't be pleased anywhere.

We broke our journey to Cornwall here enabling us to visit Wells and Glastonbury as well. The owners couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. Our room lovely, comfortable and of a good size. Food was excellent - we ate here for dinner and breakfast and both were fantastic and good value for money. We would stay here again.
