Perhaps the negative reviewer would be more suited to a modern Travelodge type of property, yes floorboards do creak on a property of this age, this is a country house hotel with bags of character, the hosts are very welcoming, the owners dog often to be found asleep in the hall, I understand slowly the building is being renovated. Food... More

Beautiful building with lots of character, excellent breakfast included with room, friendly staff who were keen to help and very polite, very clean. Some road noise if you are a light sleeper but staff very quick to resolve this by offering an alternative room further from the road. Yes there are creaky floorboards but this does not affect sleep as... More

Excellent food, service and a great nights sleep. We had an excellent breakfast with a great choice of cooked breakfast and juices. Beds were very comfortable with new mattresses. The floorboards did creak a little what else would expect from a listed property! Anyone who wouldn't enjoy their stay here couldn't be pleased anywhere.

We broke our journey to Cornwall here enabling us to visit Wells and Glastonbury as well. The owners couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. Our room lovely, comfortable and of a good size. Food was excellent - we ate here for dinner and breakfast and both were fantastic and good value for money. We would stay here again.

Bowlish House has the character and decor you would associate with a listed Georgian property. We found our room comfortable and spacious with all the amenities expected from a four star hotel. Breakfast in the Cape Cod room was excellent and the food of a very good standard. The owners are friendly and welcoming and we would be perfectly happy... More

Where do I start the worst hotel I had the misfortune to stay in! The creaking of the floors was something else my daughter & I had two nights of hardly any sleep. The first night one of the pictures fell of our bedroom wall which woke us both up with a start. Our shower didn't work & the bathroom... More

My two daughters and I shared a very comfortable room over this last Bank Holiday. The service was friendly, personal and first class. The food was simply divine and the room comfortable to relax in after a long day out touring in the area. I would highly recommend this hotel for superb service and comfort.

This was the first time we have stopped at this hotel and found it ticked all the boxes for us. Good central location; nice, courteous staff ; good food at breakfast; very clean and up to date for this period house; good Wi-Fi and good value for money. This was perfect for us to get away as it was quiet... More

We stayed recently just for one night. The owners (who've only been in residence for the past nine months) couldn't have been more helpful. If you want to avoid modernity and anonymity in favour of character and individuality, give Bowlish House a try. A beautiful Georgian property which the new owners are fine tuning. An excellent room with quality bedding... More
