This was supposed to be the SUPERIOR room. (7) Upon arrival we tried to relax having a beer on the front patio. Ground Stunk of dog pee. Owners large dog peeing any where it liked and was growling alot at us. It almost knocked me over when I tried to enter the building. Hotel very dark inside, food very basic,... More

We were trapped in our room for two days having to jump over a wall to escape as their giant black dog guarded the gate all weekend snarling and barking aggressively. I have dogs myself but this dog was not trained, barely responded to the landlord when he finally called him away after I begged him to the day we... More

Well this is a tough one to review, the staff were lovely and the hotel is very old, historic & quirky which is great but there's something odd going on. We stayed in one of the cabins which were nicely decorated when you first walk in but then as the night continues you start to notice issues such as leaky... More

Was there on business last week. Ordered two Burgers and two drinks, bill came to £25.00. My colleague found a large piece of plastic wrap in her burger, the chips were straight out of the freezer into the fryer - when I took the meal back the waitress looked completely unsurprised, proceeded to charge us the full amount for our... Good food, good staff who are very accommodating. My room was cold through the night, but bed was comfortable. On the whole a good place to visit for a night. There are two large dogs here, but they are both friendly and add to the atmosphere of the place.

Loved the rambling old 15th century inn with its nooks and crannies, uneven floorboards, creaking doors and log fires. If you like sleek and modern this isn't the place for you. Our welcome wasn't the best. Like one of the other reviewers we were met at the gate by a growling guard dog but once 'rescued' by the owner everything... More

If you like quirky and Tolkien then this is the place to stay. On the othet hand and if you live a spotless life and wash your car every Sunday then book into a national sterile hotel chain. The dusthole whilst not perfect is a gem. Friendly and attentative service and good beds. Ok so there be herds of wilderbeast... More

A great place to stay, the chalets and tree house are excellent, as was the welcome, evening meal, and breakfast, yes there are a couple of dogs, Jake and Tyson, which were not a problem, and the atmosphere is very laid back, which suited us down to the ground. It's a lovely old building steeped in history, we would certainly... More

I travelled to this hotel with a friend for a wedding. On arrival at the aptly named 'Dusthole' after a 2 hour journey, we found the only entrance gate shut with a sign saying beware of the Alsation. With not a mention of there being a dog on the website and not particularly liking dogs myself, we entered with trepidation... More
