This is a nice but little bit worn out hotel. It is probably as old as the manager, who is an old man who speaks reasonably good English and is very welcoming and eager to please. He apologised for the honking cars of celebrating Georgian youngsters, which were driving through the streets one night and even gave me a free... More

We had hoped to stay in the hotel we had stayed in before in Artvin, but it was full. So we reluctantly chose the Karahan and were pleasantly surprised. The bottom floor entrance is horrid and you think you are entering a flea bag. But the lobby was fine and the room was even better. Comfortable and clean beds, clean... More

This hotel is quite large and has interesting views from the bedrooms.Which are spacious and comfortable. There is not a lot to see in Artvin but it is an interesting town as all the buildings are built on very sloping ground. Good for a one night stop.

When we arrived, the parking area around the back entrance was completely full of cars and people, so we had to park along a city street a couple blocks away (this was evidently unusual and may have been related to Ramadan attendance at the adjacent mosque). The hotel receptionist was friendly enough, although since we were apparently the only visitors... More

The hotel Karahan was impeccable. I had a problem with the bathroom light and it was fixed immediately. Mr. Karahan was very friendly and helpful. When I told him how angry I was to see that the nearby Georgian church was being used by the cows he phoned someone to complain. How could have he kept that hotel going for... More

We had a very good time in Karahan hotel. The owner is a erudite and friendly person who speaks very good english, a respite in eastern Turkey. The breakfast on the great balcony was very good, the servants were friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean with good beds. From our room we had a nice view on the surrounding... More

we stayed here as it was supposed to be the best hotel possible in Artvin. City in itself did not seem us very attractive, but the nature around it is beautiful. The hotel has small free car park at the back, indicated from the main street, so that was easy. We had booked in advance and were shown two rooms.... More

Our tour from hell with Tigran Babayan was made particularly miserable by his economic choices of hotels (he refused to spend more than $35/night for a room). Each night we would get anticipatory chills from the thought that he was on his way to a new flea bag. However, the Hotel Karahan (1 star) was the real low point in... More
