Wonderful hotel with lots of charm, history, great service, good food, outstanding whiskey collection.... The hotel is situated in the rural central of Holland, close to the historic town of Bronkhorst. The staff are attentive, friendly and expert hoteliers. The wine list, especially for us South Africans, has lots of premium South African wines. Not cheap, but very welcoming. We... More

We booked a Lazy Sunday arrangement and were pleased with the room upgrade which we got upon arrival. And we enjoyed the dinner, very well prepared with an excellent South African wine pairing and a nice and attentive service. We were disappointed with the breakfast that was served in buffet style, which is not what you expect in a place... More

We booked the hotel for 2 nights in a late booking package with 2 dinners included. The purpose was to go biking in the neighborhood but the weather was awfull - rain - rain - rain. So we went visiting the small towns by car. The hotel staff was very friendly and we had 2 really good dinners so we... More

Dear PL. I am happy to read that the bad weather has made up with good service, a comfortable room and 2 really good dinners. But indeed a bit of sunshine should have given a great opportunity to explore the surroundings by bike. But December is probably not the best time of the year and luckely the small towns have... For a business meeting we stayed over in the castle (which is more a very luxerious landhouse). Facilities are excellent, staff is of exceptional quality, rooms are good and bed and bathroom are perfect. The restaurant is also excellent, don't miss out on a dinner there!

Stunning hotel in lovely green surroundings – perfect for a golf break or walking with your dog before enjoying the fine cuisine and South African wines in the restaurant. We booked a last minute stay for our anniversary in 'De Engelenburgh' and enjoyed every minute of it. The hotel is situated near a golf course, in a very tranquil and green environment. Of course you are also very welcome if you don't play golf. In that case it can't hurt picking a date when there are no tournaments planned.... More

Good, traditional (golf) hotel set in the green nature of Gelderland. But don't expect anything new or innovative. Enthusiastic staff who have some problems communicating amongst themselves, so that you can run into some misunderstandings, but the effort and smiles make up for that. Superb single malt bar about 300 brands, vintages, etc. Knowledgeable bar staff. Nice views. Good breakfast.... More

The rooms and interior of the castle give you a mixed feeling of old Dutch and old South African living.Especially the African elements are surprising but after the explanation of the manager one will understand. We had dinner twice and both evenings were of a high standard.Of course accompanied by excellent South African wine. The castle is bounded to the golf course... Dear Nico, Thanks for your review and obviously we are so happy that you enjoyed an excellent stay during your short holiday. Indeed the South African touch is somewhat strange in the Dutch country side. But already in the 19th century the previous owners brought their colonial touches from Indonesia as a token of wealth.
