The hotel is the only one in Stavoren and is located in the middle of the village, looking onto the harbour area, which is a hive of activity throughout the year, mainly with German yachters and sailboat enthusiasts. This location has its downside in that parking is extremely limited, no more than 4 or 5 cars for hotel guests, the rest have to use the pay and display parking on the other side of the harbour, 2 minutes walk away (pay/display hours are 0900-1700, seven days a week).
The main part of the hotel is fairly non-descript, although its old enough to fit in nicely with the surrounding houses, with the exception of the ghastly conservatory/breakfast area with its cheap corrugated plastic roofing ! Arriving around 2130 we were surprised to find all entrances to the hotel locked, lots of lights on inside but the staff were too busy tidying up from the evening's restaurant diners to bother to notice our knocks and rings.
