I have now visited Hotel Sumidors twice as it is such a great place to get away from it all and relax in comfortable and peaceful surroundings whilst at the same time it is only a short distance from the coast and the lovely town of Sitges and Barcelona is an easy day trip if you are looking for culture/lively... My girlfriend and I had a wonderful trip through Northern Spain this summer, ending in the environment of Sitges. She visited Hotel Sumidors a couple of times before (while being run by Ian and Neil) and was very curious how the place would look like nowadays, with new owners (since a year or so) John and Amanda. For me it... More

We stayed here for a couple of nights following Sawdays special places as well, but were somewhat disappointed. The room felt somewhat overpriced, as the bathroom was a bit dated and we had a view of a messy backyard. The breakfast is not served until 9 am and on 2 occasions this was 30 minutes late. The environment and the pool... More

Thank you for saying the food was nice. We didn't realize you needed help and we did ask you multiple times if everything was okay. We are a primarily a bed and breakfast that does food in the evening for those guests who do not want to leave the hotel. We are sorry you were unhappy. More

We went for a single night following the positive review in Alastair.Sawday's book - SPAIN Special Places to Stay -, however, it appears that the property has changed owners since the review was done. We loved the location, the staff were friendly and it had a nice boho-chic feel to it which we like. That said, it felt like they... More

I booked 9 nights at Sumidors to celebrate 2 birthdays in June on recommendation from a friend who had stayed there 2 years ago. I was a bit dubious as I discovered that the owners had changed. There was no need to be as Amanda and John were fantastic. John even rang us when we late arriving just to check... More

We stayed there for 3 nights and really enjoyed our visit to the Sumidors hotel. This place is definitely a hidden gem, over 400 years old and full of character! Sumidors offers a comfortable friendly stay, nothing being too much trouble. Our room was clean and well equiped. The hotel is up hill so the views are amazing. There is also... More

We feel slightly uneasy writing this review as partly we wish the hotel remained the gem of a ´secret ‘place it is but we must give credit where credit is due. We booked last minute, scanned the reviews and decided to give it a go. We stayed 3 days early in May. We wanted a quick getaway from Barcelona, away... More

The place is run casually but the people who run it made a big difference, we felt like friends of the family from the moment we got there. The breakfast was nice the meals we had in the evening tasted just right, they weren't fancy but good. The location is fantastic and away from the hustle of Sitges but close... More

A very relaxed and special Hotel, a romantic retreat in the middle of the Garraf hills, with lovely views and very charming rooms. Every room is different decorated, I love the African one... We had read good reviews of this place and so were very surprised to find out how it actually is. Due to the absence of the owners we were requested to check ourselves in to a small dark room with an unpleasant shower room (peeling silicone, sticky shower curtain etc). Two dogs were fighting in the entrance yard where beer... More
