Steps up and down into reception were a bit of a problem with heavy suitcases. No welcome from the receptionist as we checked in. Told us all rooms were the same size despite us reading lots of reviews to the contrary. However, we got a decent sized room. There was one incredibly uncomfortable metal chair and a very small desk... More

A bit out of town (15 min easy walk) this converted monastery is an amazing building. The rooms are fine, great value for the price I paid. Bathroom well equipped. Slow wifi available in a hallway outside my room but not in my room. It must be difficult in a building so old with thick walls. Reception was friendly but... More

A group of us stayed at Hotel Real Monasterio San Zoilo for 3 nights whilst travelling along the Camino to Santiago de Compostela. The hotel is part of a monastery and normally at this time of the year the hotel is shut as it is after the main season. However with a group of 28 people travelling they were very... More

My tour party spent 3 nights in this hotel, and in general it was a good experience. The location and the buildings are beautiful. If not attached to a hotel, the cloister and chapel could be major tourist attractions in themselves. My husband and I were happy with our room, and the bathroom - with big, fast-running bath - was... More

Stayed here for one night en-route from Lugo to Ezcaray in Rioja. Arrived to a beautiful old monastery and our bedroom was big and comfortable. The town itself is nice to walk around for a couple of hours. My only advice is not to go for half board like we did. The food in the restaurant was very nice and... More

Regrettably my stay at this hotel was not a good experience. I had room 101, the first room on the corridor from the elevator. It was noisy. The room faced the pavement at the side of the hotel so there was essentially no view. Also it did not have curtains, so if I wanted privacy, I had to close the... More

OK, the hotel is beautiful, the room is average, but the service in the "cafeteria" is just horrible. Frozen pizza, below average salad, and the one wait person was overwhelmed by 3 tables. We had to clear our own table. Sorely inadequate for this apparent level of hotel. We felt completely ignored. We chose the cafeteria because as pilgrims we... More

What a lovely place to stay, superb building with lots of history. Nicely done rooms and well appointed bathrooms. Had a super meal in the restaurant nice little extra's at start and end of meal. Staff were both helpfull and pleasant and the setting is lovely. Only downside nobody tending bar at night.

This is a lovely building in a lovely location. We really enjoyed the ambiance. The reception staff were wonderful but the restaurant staff were a little stuck up. The room was very good with lots of space. The common areas were superb. We would stay here again but please, (i) get some nicer restaurant staff, and (ii) improve the meal... More

It helped that we had perfect weather for our overnight stay here, making the grounds lushness really stand out. We enjoyed the grounds sitting in the open air terrace sipping on great wine. The entry was beautiful as were all the common areas. The rooms were well done, quiet & comfortable. We had a room on the 2nd floor that... More
