Like a grand castle which majestically dominates the seascape of the AtlanticOcean and its islands, the magnificent GRAN CASTILLO TAGORO is erected in the charming area of Playa Blanca, in the south of the volcanic isle par excellence: Lanzarote. With the conviction that elegance and comfort should come naturally, this Hotel is a tribute to 16th century Canary history and colonial architecture, inspired by the "Castle of San José" and the typical landscape of the island, blending in with the environment. The building is divided into different zones which maintain their colonial style, where the white facades and volcanic stone contrast with the backdrop of the deep blue ocean. A charming interior courtyard of Arab inspiration bathes the reception area with light, and the contemporary décor and pale colours create a warm and very elegant atmosphere. GRAN CASTILLO TAGORO pampers every detail of the rooms and suites, which have breathtaking views of the sea and surrounding scenery. They are decorated in a contemporary style, with marine touches, light-coloured wood and pale colours, creating a pleasant atmosphere full of light. The discerning selection of restaurants and cuisines serve Canary, national and international specialities. There are conference rooms featuring spearhead technology, and various outdoor zones for events of different kinds. The "Vitanova SPA" thalassotherapy centre provides the benefits of thermal seawater, and specific treatments for the body and soul. The Hotel features a wide range of facilities and services.

Gran Castillo Tagoro Family & Fun is a hit with many travelers for its spacious and clean rooms, although a few guests suggest the rooms could benefit from an update. The hotel's cleanliness generally earns high marks, but some have noted the pool area could be better maintained. While the service receives mixed reviews, with instances of exceptional friendliness and occasional unresponsiveness, the hotel's location is popular, offering easy access to local attractions. However, opinions on the hotel's value and atmosphere are divided, with some guests seeking more evening vibrancy and questioning the price point despite the array of family-friendly amenities.

We booked last minute and were a bit trepidatious after reading some lukewarm reviews, but had a lovely week here. As three mature adults we had some concerns about the 'family fun' aspect and, yes, there were lots of children but mostly adorable pre-schoolers and it was lovely to see little families enjoying themselves. There was a nice mix of nationalities- a lot of Spanish tourists as well as mainly UK, some French, a few others. Apart from at reception the staff were pleasant, happy to help, and we never had problems getting served. The Sports Bar was the best for mixed drinks, we only had beer, cava and sangria at the pool bar as the pre made cocktail mixes there were too sweet. Our rooms were spotless and huge, with massive bathroom (with bath, separate shower and separate loo area), big comfy beds, lovely view. Sockets were in stupid inaccessible places though! Some noise from air hockey in games room below our friend's room but otherwise quiet. She couldn’t get a good Wi-Fi signal but ours was fine. Wide array of food - fresh juice & all brekky items you’d expect plus my favourite - churros! Lots of salads and themed days (Canadian, Asian, Mexican) although the main cooked dishes were a bit tasteless. There’s always chips and ice cream, plenty of choices. Pool bar snacks were fine (we tried fries, nuggets, onion rings and diy toasted sandwiches) Pools were on the cool side (which we like) and we mainly used the adult one which had a little bar with hot drinks too but only peanuts as snacks. The seafront walk to Rubicon Marina and beyond to Playa Blanca is delightful with loads of benches to sit and enjoy the views. Would visit again.

Hotel's Favorite
This was our third visit and, once again, we had a fabulous stay. This time we were lucky enough to stay for two weeks and still came home with a long list of things to do next time. Rooms We've been lucky enough to have the very same Merlin room on each of our visits. These rooms are really spacious with sliding doors separating the kids room from the main bedroom. The beds are huge and very comfortable and the kids bedroom has really fun decoration with toys and a tent. The bathrooms are large with a fantastic shower and big bath. Our room had a fantastic terrace right by the dragon pool. The Merlin rooms are located by the Italian restaurant and dragon pool. We really liked the location, although it is a few minutes away from the main restaurant and reception. We didn't find this to be a problem at all and found this area to be very quiet on an evening. We had a couple of minor complaints about the room. First was the lack of dressing gown and slippers this year. There's a fairly significant cost to upgrade to this room and we would expect to have this in a room in this price range. The other was the lack of electrical sockets. The room really needs another socket by the kettle at the very least. I think this was probably our last time staying in a Merlin room as the upgrade cost next year is just too much. Staff We found the staff to be absolutely wonderful. From the reception staff when we checked-in to the guys driving the golf carts and the staff in the restaurant, everyone was warm and welcoming. The animation team were great, really fun and full of energy. The housekeeping staff did a wonderful job of keeping the resort clean and tidy throughout our stay. Leydis on reception was amazing when our room neighbour suffered a serious medical emergency. She was calm, kind and really reassuring. Food and drink We have always really liked the food here. The buffet in the main reception has great variety with fresh fish, paella and a great selection of salads every day. There are a number of stations making food to order, including pasta, fish and a selection of meats at lunch and dinner and eggs and pancakes on a morning. There's a chocolate fountain on an evening which is a big winner with the kids and a few different ice cream choices, as well as lots of cakes and pastries. The hotel always has a large selection of fresh fruit throughout the day. We ate twice at the Italian restaurant, Portofino, this visit. Both meals were excellent. Between us we had beef carpaccio, risotto, pork marsala and pizza. The atmosphere and selection really appeal to us and we look forward to coming back again. We had burgers and hotdogs at the pool snack bar, both were nice and a good alternative to a large lunch. We were happy with the selection of soft drinks and alcohol. Coca Cola products are served in glass bottles in the restaurant, which was nice. The kids were able to get slushies by the pool and the cocktails, although from a machine, were enjoyable. The cocktail of the day at the sports bar was by far the most enjoyable. We really do miss the Chinese restaurant and would be thrilled to see it replaced. It would be nice to have a little more variety, particularly during a longer visit. Facilities We love the pools here. Although they can be a little chilly, it's quite refreshing in the middle of a hot day. We enjoyed the main pool most early in the morning when we could have a quiet swim and the dragon pool on an afternoon when the water was warmest. The pools by the restaurant were the coolest with one being quite deep, however this was ideal for us at they tend to be very quiet, we were quite often able to swim completely alone in the middle of the day. Inflatables are only allowed for a couple of hours over lunch time. This was fine with us as the pool does get very crowded when the inflatables are out. The amination team organise activities here in the middle of the day. Aquagym was particularly fun. We've never had an issue obtaining loungers, however we do tend to get to the pool very early, or go late afternoon. The middle of the day can be quite busy. The lifeguards will often remove towels when left for more than an hour to prevent beds form being reserved but not used all day. The adults only area had a beautiful pool with an enormous hot tub and massage jets. Whenever we've visited it's always been quiet and relaxed, perfect for a swim and a read. There are a couple of small shops selling toys, inflatables and snacks, as well as essentials like hygiene and health products. Entertainment We went to the mini disco most evenings. It's great fun for younger children, our loved the music and the dances. The team put on a fairy tale show one evening which was really well performed and was a really nice change to the usual activities. We didn't stay for any of the later entertainment, however would really have enjoyed some music outside on an evening. We were lucky enough to have fabulous weather throughout our stay and it would have been nice to have a little entertainment outside. Location The location is ideal for us. There are a few shops and bars close by. The hotel is about a 20/30 minute walk along the seafront to the Rubicon marina, where there are lots of fabulous bars, restaurants and shops and a really great market every Wednesday and Saturday. It's roughly another 10/15 minute walk to Playa Dorada beach which is beautiful and another 5/10 minutes to Playa Blanca. There is a very small, rocky beach in front of the hotel. The beach itself is fine, although it isn't particularly to access. There is an awful lot to do in the area. We've taken a few day trips to Fuerteventura, had an afternoon at Aqualava and taken a coach to the enormous Sunday market in Teguise. We still have a long list of things we want to do when we return. We had another really great stay at this hotel, it ticks all the boxes for us and we're already looking forward to our next visit.

This was our second time staying here and we absolutely loved it again - brilliant family holiday (kids are 9 and 6). Animation team were superb, didn’t learn all their names but Jorge, Paula, Jimmy, Aurora/Jenifer/John Williams, the guy with the moustache and girl from the Basque country were all super. Our kids loved kids club and the mini disco and evening entertainment - animation team went above and beyond to engage them. We found food to be great, always a wide selection of fresh food to choose from and quite varied over a week. It was a bit windy and overcast while we stayed, but the kids still enjoyed the pools (wore shortie wetsuits), and we also loved the indoor pool which you can book during your stay. We stayed in a Merlin room which was lovely and spacious, and cleaning staff did a great job in leaving it spotless daily. We enjoyed the adults area with hot tub while kids were in kids club. Overall a great resort for families, very safe and every need catered for. There was one blonde lady at reception who was a little disingenuous and one bar staff member who was a little unfriendly but otherwise staff went out of their way to be helpful and friendly.

These silly reviews need to stop, The last two reviews one star each and one reviewer hadn’t even visited the place and the other had to leave early due to a sad family loss, you cannot blame the hotel for either. I am here now and have been at least 10 times, The food is great freshly made omelette all fruits as well as usual English food bacon sausage etc in the morning masses of fresh fruit and juices lunch and dinner there is lots of choices including English food fries nuggets and Pizza or lots of healthy salad tuna fresh fish foods from around the world and always a choice of freshly cooked meat, At the pool bar they will cook you a fresh burger fries hotdogs, the place is geared up for families but has a fantastic adults only area with two jacuzzi’s a bar and large swimming pool so it feels like u are in an adults only hotel, however meal times if you like to sit for hours in an adult environment it’s probably not for you as the restaurant is shared with families and can be a little chaotic with lots of children around. I love the place the rooms are much larger than all I’ve ever stayed in and the staff second to none. And this is a review from someone that’s stayed more than one night or not ever visited at all,

We were booked here for a short break from 16th to 20th Feb. Heartbreakingly one night in to our break we got the dreadful news that my wife’s father had passed away. We were eventually able to get flights to come home straight away and informed hotel staff on reception why we were leaving early. We had not even considered a refund but the helpful lady we spoke said once we were sorted at home, email the hotel with a copy of the death certificate and given the circumstances we would probably get a refund. It was not something we had considered, but we were very grateful as it possibly meant one less thing to worry about during a very stressful and upsetting time. We did this and sadly, ten days later and after two emails, we have not even had the courtesy of a response from the hotel. Very disappointing

We got robbed at the hotel. We checked out today Saturday the 2nd of March,2024 at 10.15am,after 9 days stay. Our bags were kept for us at the storage room. Later when we went to collect our bags to go to the airport 1 bag with all our passports(3),electronics,and a lot of valuables was missing. The hotel took no responsibility whatsoever. One receptionist went ahead to say it was not the hotel's fault whether we missed our flights or not. We were sent to the police station. No cctv camera at storage room or outside it. The hotel could not play the only cctv camera they have until we got a police report. People told us the storage room was opened when they went to retrieve their bags. Zero security. We couldn't even speak to a manager as we were told there was none till Monday. As I'm writing this we are at the airport without passports. The staff at the reception were extremely rude and appeared to blame us for storing our bags at their storage room. Avoid this hotel at all costs.

Booked the holiday about a year ago when reviews were very favourable and then when I rechecked them prior to arrival I was so so so nervous due to the negativity! Thankfully we had a lovely time and stay here as a young family! The room we had was massive, biggest I’ve ever stayed in and was clean and comfy. The pool areas were lovely and scenic. The food was totally fine for an all inc catering to the masses - perfectly pleasant and no food poisoning over here! I’d come back for sure. Well set up for the kids.

We are currently on our last night of a 5 day stay and just had to write a review after reading many mixed reviews before we came here. I have to say our holiday has been absolutely lovely despite a few cloudy days (although still warm) Today has been clear blue skies though so managedto get some good sunbathing time in. The hotel itself is very clean, we have stayed in a Merlin room due to having 2 young boys, the room was really spacious and spotlessly clean. Our beds were comfortable although we did have to ask for extra pillows which were promptly delivered to the room. The shower was delightful & I found the bed to be really comfortable. The pools were slightly cold although this didn't stop our boys spending all day in them & the few which were heated were fine for a splash around in for adults Food was a concern before arriving as some reviews were very critical but we needn't have worried. Huge variety & of good quality. Different days have different themes, Mexican, Italian, English etc but you can still have "normal" dishes too. Certain meats are cooked in front of you and the amount of desserts means I've probably put on a stone in body weight! The staff have all been really pleasant and helpful. Many don't speak much English but it was no problem & to be honest why should they, we were here to experience their culture after all. Very polite & welcoming, not to mention great with the kids. Today we took a trip to the stunning Marina where we had a good look around the market which is on 9-2 every Saturday & Wednesday, we picked up some lovely items, footy kits for my boys and some other "knock offs". The hotel and surrounding areas have so many rubbish bins which are clearly used as it is such a clean place. Overall we have really enjoyed the stay, I honestly can't think of any reason to give it anything other than 5 stars. Please don't worry about the people who like to complain about curtains too short or a drink having too much ice. We have been absolutely delighted with the choice we made & hopefully this review will put some minds at rest.

Just returned from a 4 day stay at the Gran Castillo Tagoro hotel where do I start Firstly the junior suite was fine functional however no iron or ironing board received water on the first day and not replaced over our 4 day stay We had a bath with jets but the they did not work do a whirl pol bath without any whirls it was reported on 2 occasions nothing done to address the fault Entertainment or should I say lack of entertainment adults we’re not catered for during the day The entertainment on an evening was so amateurish first night some “circus performers and a Charlie Chapman artist 2nd Night A very amateur game show 3rd night a female singer predominantly singing in Spanish and she emptied the room very quickly and on our last night a poor Karaoke show none of this should represent a 5 star hotel I have seen better both day and night at lesser hotels One of the pluses was the 5D cinema not told you must book in advance we attempted to book it on our 2nd day of 4 but was told there was no availability until Monday (we left on Monday am Food average but always something to eat.The Italian restaurant was fantastic Pool bar drinks ok food horrid on several occasions pre heated burgers were reheated and served to customers on several occasions the chops to accompany the hot dogs and re heated Burgers were also reheated or served cold not what you would expect for a 5 Star Establishment They charged my 16 year old so an adult price but he was not allowed in the adult pool area stating he needs to be an adult but they charged him for being an adult Finally £1000 for 4 nights all inclusive for myself and 16 year old son was an extortionate amount of money So disappointed it could be so much more
