We wanted a base to explore this historic region. La Nina was a perfect choice and Montecarlo is a delightful small hilltop town. A tranquil location, comfortable accommodation and a restaurant offering good regional food and wine of the highest quality. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly.

We went here for lunch on the basis of a local recommendation. It was great advice. We had a lovely array of antipasti, freshly prepared pasta and local wine. We are a family of finely tuned palettes, with high standards and well travelled. This was top notch fayre with service and ambience to match. It was also excellent value.

Friendly welcome, lovely cool room and wonderful dinner = a perfect overnight stay. Especially good was that pasta with rabbit sauce - plenty of delicious meat with sweet carrot in the sauce. If you have room, the hotel now offers breakfast but we didn't bother!

friendly owners, spacious rooms, nice furnishing, lovely surrounding. But the best of all is the restaurant with excellent choice of meats, pasta, desserts, local wines. It´s possible to buy olive oil from their own production. Restaurant was full of local people almost every night. We stayed there in May 2013 with breakfast included.

Well furnished room, nice surrounding. Paulo was very helpful. Close to Lucca and good for travelling norther. It was winter so the restaurant was closed. Reasonable price. It was hard to find since we came at night.

Brilliant restaurant with huge choice of Tuscan dishes.Spectacular meat antipasto and meats cooked on a huge fire in the kitchen, visible from the dining room. Good choice of desserts and wine, though we recommend the establishment's own red. Dining indoors or out on lovely terrace if weather permits. On top of this is the villa with rooms available at ridiculously... More

We have been coming to La Nina since 1998. Back then we had little money and were looking for restaurants with rooms in Tuscany. This is the best and cheapest place we ever stayed. The bedrooms are in The Villa. All rooms are large and have beautiful bathrooms - a real treat. The food at the restaurant is out of... More

Wonderful restaurant with a villa containing 9 beautiful rooms at very reasonable prices. No breakfasts but after a late night and a wonderful dinner who needs it at the expense of a bit of sleep for the extended family that runs the hotel. Rooms are modern but traditional in style with large, well-appointed bathrooms. Satellite TV available but sitting out... More

We have stayed at La Nina at least once a year since 1998. Very relaxed and calme place with a nice little garden. Perfect to read, rest and de-stress. We hope the start serving breakfast one day. Tip: by food and snacks in the supermarket and make your own little picnic in the garden. Also; pay for the room in... More

La Nina is a Tuscan dream come true. Set in the hills of Tuscany near Montecalro, it is a truely cozy find. There is a restaurant attached to it that make the experience even better. Paolo, the owner met us at the main house and let us into our rooms. 15 high ceilings and huge bathtubs.....great views of the countryside.....I... More
