We wanted to find an out-of-the-way place to stay on a vacation near Sienna, Italy. I was online looking for vacation rentals in that area when I found Castello di Montalto, an authentic 1000-year old castle outside Sienna. This place was exactly what we needed. For 7 days we stayed in an apartment in one of the towers that guarded... More

We were lucky to have found montalto through the net and after a visit in the winter, we decided to organise our wedding there in september. Our families, friends and anyone involved in the event felt the absolute magic of the place. A very big thank you to diana and giovanni who graciously guided us and supported all our decisions.... Castello di Montalto is a most worthwhile experience. The aesthetics of the architecture, the gardens, the views and the apartment combined to make this the most enjoyable and comfortable stay in our experience. The location is perfect for visiting Tuscany's and Umbria's treasures. Breakfasts were a great value, offering abundance, quality and variety. Thanks to Alexandro we had excellent guidance... More

With a group of friends, I have just completed my fifth stay at Montalto, this time in Loggia. And again, all of my party found that our stay was excellent value for money. Warm welcome, helpful and informative staff, perfect location for exploration of Tuscany. When we weren't out sightseeing, we enjoyed the pool or the walking opportunities around the... More

We were two couples age late 50's to early 60's. Stayed in the tower for 2 weeks and found it absolutley amazing. Our hosts Diana, Giovanni and Alessandro made us feel so very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. The tower was just as we expected, full of charm, character and creak and of course the resident... More

Our daughter and her husband and family stayed here in Oct 2010 and recommended the small Scuola cottage to us. It was a great location, very quiet, tucked away at the end of a short dirt road. The management and staff were very helpful though not intrusive. The history of the castle is amazing and the afternoon tea with the... More

Excellent introduction to agrotourism. We were warmly welcomed and expertly taken care of. Our hosts and manager provided and detailed introduction into the area. Accomdations were clean and quaintly dated. Breakfasts were composed of a palatable area of foods. A great way to get to know Tuscany. More

We stayed at Castello di Montalto for a week of wonder, enjoyment, and our daughter's wedding. Forty-three of us "took over" the entire castle for a week, though they can handle fewer and greater numbers. If you have never stayed in a castle, this is the place, Siena is the town, and Tuscany is definitely the region. The hosts are... More

My husband and I loved our stay at Montalto Castle. It is like going back in time to a place where life is slower and quieter. You really feel like you are living in the Middle Ages. What we thoroughly enjoyed was the fact that Diana and Giovanni have endeavored to retain the authentic feel of a medieval castle -... More

My husband and I and three ten year olds had a marvelous stay at the Castello di Montalto for a week in July 2009. We rented a three bedroom (the gamekeeper's cabin) with a large living room, spacious kitchen and two outdoor spaces, a table and chairs in the back and a large deck with table and chairs off the...
