Stayed their with a friend for 5 nights and it was too much. The grounds are amazing in the middle of the Tuscan hills, great views and nature. The rooms are very cleans and spacious with the exception of the shower doors not closing well, A/C unit not working well, and the desk chair was broken causing me to fall... More

Not doubts this is a charming hotel. And the place is really nice. I wouldn`t say the best hotel in Tuscany as some reviews say but for sure a really nice one. But it lacks of one thing that Tuscany and Italy is famous for. Simplicity... The staff is really well trained but it lacks some authenticity on their way... More

An interesting experience. I say interesting; after having spent a couple of days in Milan, then Venice and Florence in Five Star Hotels; in Florence at Il Savatino an unbeatable experience. Castle Monastero brought a different experience; it grows on you. A laid back atmosphere and rustic experience. A nice location in the Tuscan Countryside; forty minutes from most of... More

There's a lot going for this hotel, the location is beautiful, the buildings are lovely and we had an excellent room looking out over the Tuscan countryside. The pool area is also great and seemed to be very child friendly. That's a little open air gym as well. The staff are all really friendly and want to help - we... More

We left after one night and we had booked three. This is a former monastery so your room, which is well decorated, has very small windows and no view. It is expensive. We found this on the internet and for the price assumed that the spa was included. it's not and open short hours in the fall, so if you're... More

We stopped there for 3 nights on a family vacation. We were a big group, and we were well taken care of. Incredible place, quiet with big, gorgeous rooms, incredible grounds and outstanding service. Only thing better than the accommodations and service was the food. Both restaurants were fantastic. Bonus: we did a family cooking class where we made fresh... More

Beautiful 5 star property in the country - my only real complaint is that I didnt have more than 1 night to enjoy it. The managers and those who appeared to be in charge were extremely friendly and helpful. Our junior suite, and the hallways leading up to it had split level flooring- about a 2.5 inch step which was... More

Great hotel and some of the best staff service I have ever experienced. Great food and if you are looking for an up market place to chill then you could do no better. Very we'll located close to Siena chianti and the Northern Tuscan towns.

Stunning venue, steeped in history and rural Tuscan glamour. A peaceful and tranquil slice of Italian elegance which has the makings of one of the worlds leading hotels as the name suggests. Positives: Buildings Rooms Pool area Cantina restaurant Certain staff members: Enzo, Francessca at breakfast is lovely but needs better staff to support her. Negatives: A shuttle buss service... I can't say enough good things about Castel Monastero. I came here a year ago to propose to my fiancé. I wanted to do something special to propose and when I thought of a private horseback riding trip I was told (by Lorenza and the general mngr, Graciela) that they strive to make such special occasions possible. Needless to say,... More

#4 Romantic Hotel in Castelnuovo Berardenga
Official Description (provided by the hotel)
While painters are born, travellers are made and no land has aroused the curiosity, the enthusiasm and the culture of entire generations more than Tuscany. Certainly, not all of them have had the luck to begin their journey in the enchantment of Castel Monastero. In fact a few kilometres from our village, along roads of pure delight, can be found masterpieces of art and of the highest culinary tradition.Every day, a discovery. Every day a different itinerary passing through unspoiled scenery. Every day, on your return, a massage and a candle-lit dinner. And together, over a romantic meal for two or with your friends, you will recall the frescoes of Piero della Francesca and the perfect walls of Monteriggioni, the Renaissance utopia of Pienza and the gastronomic glory of Castellina in Chianti. And again, to surprise you, there’ll be a sunset over Pitigliano and a stroll around the Etruscan necropolises of Sovana. ... more   less
