Once you find this converted monastery opposite the ancient ruins of the old town of Noto you will find it relaxing and a haven in the Sicilian countryside. It is a long way from the town on winding roads so it is just as well that they have a very good restaurant on site. There is a pool which is... More

Miles from anywhere, and follow the road from Noto and ignore the first turn, take the second 2 miles further on, much easier! So,so quiet and peaceful, just lay by the pool listening to nothing but nature, really relaxing. You are miles from anywhere and there is little else to do mind! But for a real chill out and some... Borgo Alveria is located in Noto Antica (which for the avoidance of any confusion is not a town - it is the ruins of the former city of Noto destroyed by an earthquake. The new Noto is about half an hour's drive away along a very winding road). It is a very remote and peaceful countryside location but is within... More

Our favorite stay in Sicily. Peaceful and low-key environment, very near Noto Antica ruins. The owners have done a wonderful job restoring a 15th century monastery. Delicious food in an elegant restaurant. Caring and attentive staff. Thank you Carla for your introduction to Manderinetto and sharing your special place.

The place is very remote of everything but if you have done your homework that won't come as a surprise. It's a beautiful setting, all modern comfort in a renovated antique place. No warm welcome when you arrive but the request to pay the remainder of your booking before even seeing your room...Never seen this in my entire life before,... More

We had spent considerable time looking for a location that would meet the needs of my three sisters and I. They were flying in from the UK and my husband and I were joining them from the USA for our 4-night stay. We were looking for good food, upscale accommodation, a swimming pool and an interesting and scenic environment! Having... More

beautiful setting although slightly tricky to find Friendly staff but so laid back that you felt like you we disturbing them whenever you asked for anything.still they were helpful when pressed and we enjoyed hanging out by the pool. Food was ok - my caponata on first mouthful was tasty but soon felt like it was smothered in sweet and... More

Our intention was to visit the much vaunted baroque "new" Noto and only fit in Noto Antica if time allowed. Happily it did allow as the new town seemed somewhat ersatz and definitely overcrowded. A walk around the ruins of the old town is inspirational - perhaps one day they will be fully excavated. We stumbled into Borgo Alveria on... More

This beautiful place has been renovated in style. The owners and staff did everything to make our stay enjoyable. Four couples that stayed 3 nights and loved it. The grounds are amazing and the place is quiet and so restful. The old village ruins are interesting and make for an enjoyable walk. The drive up to the Borgia is amazing... More

My husband and I have been spending holidays in Sicily for over 30 years and know the island very well. Yet we were pleasantly surprised during our short stay at Borgo Alveria. The romantic drive through olive groves and past the remains of the old Castle of Noto are only an 'antipasto' to the beauty of the hotel. It is... More
