Hotel Orizzonte has a fairly modern building on the edge of Acireale, - a popular Sicilian coastal resort. It is well-placed to get out and about in Sicily, but those looking to stay in Acireale and enjoy its charms would do better to seek somewhere closer to the beach area. We were here with a tour company (Newmarket), who had... More

The hotel located at a height where you can view the famous Mount Etna in the background and view of Catania City on the front. got a Room Facing the Swimming pool which has a great view. the rooms were clean and maintained well. First time to Sicily, be it that we have been to other parts of the country. We arrived at the Hotel very late in the evening, booked in and went straight to our very large room, yes it was a little dated in decor, but the essentials were there, very hot water, white towels that were white and spotlessly clean.... Have to agree with the September review from Jobelina, the grounds are lovely, but it does flatter to deceive. With their attitude some of the reception staff really should not be in the hospitality business, at least not front of house, although by the end of the week one or two did seem a touch more friendly. As for the... More

The grounds to this hotel are lovely; palm trees, big pool and fountains. Moreover, it is in a great location for exploring the wider area. Yet the inside of the hotel is showing its age. I’d say this was a three star hotel rather than a four star. The two female receptionists we encountered were po-faced and so lacking in... More

This is a nice hotel that allows you to be well settled and close enough to visit the most interesting places in East Sicily provided you rent a car since it is outside Acireale. Although i do not agree with the 4 star classification (3 star would be more adequate), the hotel is not that expensive considering it provides a... More

Overall an average four star hotel in Italy. Not too comfortable, etc, but clean and very nice and helpful personel. Often used by large groups and therefore not very individual. A good starting point to go up on Mount Etna.

we were there with a tour of 47 people, unfortunately there were other tours as well, dinner was served in two big rooms, no menue for information, no extra for vegetarians, one night we had a buffet dinner which ended for me after the starter - the buffet was nearly empty and they began to clean it of... We stayed 3 nights there as part of our tour. Lying on the slopes of Mt. Tauro, we had some great views of the coast and Mt. Etna. Mt. Etna was still smoking from an earlier eruption. The rooms were large and clean. The meals were very good. From this hotel, we ventured to Taormina (beautiful), Noto (UNESCO) and Siracusa.

I have been in this hotel as a single tourist and got a room on the ground floor. The room has 14" TV with only Italian channels and the furniture was quite simple. There was no hot water in the bathroom and the problem was fixed after an hour or so. The breakfast of this hotel is more than enough... More
