Stayed two nights at this hotel with my wife and 2 kids a few weeks ago. The room was comfortable and the breakfast buffet table was plentiful and fresh. There was a minor issue with the room but the manager, Salvatore, took care of it promptly and professionally. Would not hesitate tp return on a future visit.

Stayed here for one night during our recent tour of Sicily. Great hotel, staff very friendly and helpful. Room was nice with a balcony overlooking the small Piazza at the front of the hotel. Comfortable bed, nice bathroom with toiletries and a good shower. Parking at a small car park at the hotel, which was very convenient. Easy walk to... More

Every picture tells a story and when you enter your bedroom and find a Kandinsky on the wall it raises expectations and I was not disappointed, the room was comfortable and well furnished, I was particularly impressed with the bathroom light which came on automatically when you entered. The shower is rather complicated and the instructions have obviously been written... More

We stayed here for three nights at the end of March as it would be a good base for touring by car. It worked very well, except that traffic around the Catania area is heavy and there were frequent delays getting around the city. We found the hotel easy to access and were lucky enough to always find a space... More

I booked this hotel for a group of 27 people who were visiting Acireale for its annual carnival. Without exception, we all enjoyed our 5 night stay. The staff were attentive, friendly and welcoming. We stayed half board and all meals were served with a smile by the waiters, the food delicious and sufficient for our needs. Nothing was too... More

A modern hotel in a quiet, yet central area of Acireale offering great service. We opted for this hotel since it was good value for money, offering a generous breakfast, free wi-fi (though was quite poor), had parking (though limited, but easy and safe to park around if required) and is next to Catania, Etna, Taormina and Syracuse (places planned... Terrible hotel. We had two nights with a child 1.6 years. The place is extremely noisy to junction Staff have no words for the three ladies at the reception, a unique unkind. I do not know how people who have written before me liked this hotel. Breakfast: How from a 4 star hotel can expect no: hot kitchens, fresh, very... More

Went to Acireale for the Carnival Festivities. The reception staff were very helpful in fact forgot my laptop at the Hotel. As soon as I phoned them and they told me that it is being kept at the office. They even sent me an email informing me that I have forgotten it. Breakfast was good and for just 17 euros... More

The Proprietor of this hotel spent 27 years overseas honing his craft and it shows in the hotel service and the pride and care taken of each of the staff. A delightful experience. Salvatore was particularly helpful in recommending restaurants and taking time to provide directions and help.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The recently renovated modernised Grande Albergo Maugeri is a four star Hotel in Acireale (Catania, Sicily). Located in the heart of Acireale, our hotel is immersed in the green gardens of Garibaldi Square and within walking distance from the Cathedral and the Basilica of San Sebastiano, fine examples of Sicily Baroque architecture. The hotel is less than 3 kilometers away from the motorway and 2 kilometers away from Acireale's train station. The Grande Albergo Maugeri has 59 rooms, 2 restaurants, an American Bar, and five meeting rooms. Since the location is right in Acireale's historical center, it is very easy to reach the many nearby shops, and if you wish to spend an evening out, there are cinemas and a host of quaint restaurants where one can taste tipycal sicily cuisine and gourmet foods. Also, Catania is nearby and easily reachable for an evening promenade. ... more   less
