We stayed here on Friday 9th August. It was ideal location as our kids were competing in the lifesaving competition on the beach opposite on the Saturday. With 4 kids under 10 we always find it very difficult to find a hotel that doesn't want to charge through the ceiling or get us to book adjoining rooms so the strand... More

The Stand Hotel built over a century ago is situated in a picture perfect location lying at the foot of the very dramatic and unforgiving Slievemore and a blue flag beach just a few steps away. Greeted with a warm welcome and a roaring fire the new Manager Alan Browne could not have done more to make us feel welcome... More

The strand hotel is a hotel that could be great because of its location but sadly it's not. With some investment on the decor and over all appearance it could attract people but as it stands it looks tired and dull. The food is average and rooms are very dated. The view is outstanding as you look onto the beach... More

Hotel is in a beautiful location. No bar or restaurant food available, even though it was advertised. No hot water in our room, had to go to another room to use a shower. Hotel was very cold. Staff were not very friendly.

In our holiday planning for Ireland, we looked for a few nights somewhere "windswept & interesting" on the ocean. This looked to be that place. Wrong. We were the only guests, and had one of the better rooms, but it was small, dingy & dated with only a tiny window to view what could have been an impressive view. It... More

We stayed in the Strand Hotel in Achill last weekend and we all thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this hotel. The staff and food were all excellent and we look forward to returning again soon for another visit. MC

While staying in Dugort, my in-laws decided to come up and visit. Having just surveyed the hotel from the outside there was a sharp intake of breath by me when I heard they were staying here. When we came in to meet them I was pleasantly surprised. The staff are friendly and I soon became very relaxed. The pub was... More
