The rooms are rather spacious and ours had a stunning view of the lake. There is also a small balcony where one can take pretty good shots. We had a Japanese set dinner which had a lot of variety. The food was too much to finish though. The breakfast was decent but not fantastic. Our room was quite cold (we... More

Definitely a good location for the view but a little way out of the town. The hotel, based on reviews really did not live up to expectations, the Kaiseki meal we ordered, while good was far too much and we felt guilty leaving quite a bit of it (18 courses at last count) and the breakfast was passable. The room... More

If you wanted to experience a traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner. This hotel offers a good one. We truly enjoyed both. The onsen is big, clean and spacious. It also has a outdoor onsen at 40 deg. We were not able to get a non smoking room. Unfortunately they didn't bother to air it. The WiFi is terrible that even... More

We were driving from Kushiro to Abashiri and booked this hotel. Because we passed Lake Akan, Lake Onette and spend some times at Abashiri other place. We arrived the hotel around 7pm, nearly dark. Surprised found the view at back of the hotel (for lake Abashiri) is so good that I can't stop taking shots. And only get up early... More

This is a rather traditional Japanese Onsen Hotel, very large as well. I stayed in the second block with an average view of the lake. My room is generally spacious in half Japanese and half "western" style. It is also clean and tidy as well. Since this is our first stop of our trip and our flight arrive rather at... More

We checked into this big hotel on the 6th August. It had 3 blocks including a children's game arcade. Our room looked out to Lake Abashiri and was huge. It catered both the Japanese and Western choices, either to sleep on tatami or beds. Toilet, bath and wash basin were all separated into convenient individual units. Toiletries including tooth and... Interior decor: Uper echelon of Japanese hotel/ryokan hybrid Exterior appearance: Large hotel complex by Lake Abashiri - quiet location - almost exclusively occupying the lakeshore on the east side. Impressive. View from the room I stayed (515): Mostly hills and forests. Average. Service: Courteous staffs Hot springs: Big bathtubs indoor and outdoor. Better than average. Price value: OK. Breakfast: High... More

we were on a tour so I don't have an idea of what room choices there are. our room was above the game center. The room was divided into a lower portion with western style beds, and then a separate Japanese style sitting area one step above. In addition, there were comfortable chairs in a "third" area next to the... More

It is located in one of the most remote region of Japan, north eastern part of Hokkaido. You either have to take a flight from Sapporo, the main city in Hokkaido, for 1.5 hours, or a train for 7-8 hours to reach there. Hotel is 30 minutes from the nearest airport, or 15 minutes from the train station. To tour... More

Abashirikoso, “the inn on Lake Abashiri”, although one of the more expensive hotels we stayed at in Hokkaido, was absolutely the best value of all. Located about 6 km. out of the city, this hotel is best suited for car travel. It is on a quiet bay of Abashiriko, in a small grove of mature trees right on the lakeshore,... More
