Amazing views from the hotel. Found the walk up from the station with backpack tough going, I'm very unfit ;-) Great base for the Temple route and also the park/ropeway. Didn't eat here so can't comment on that, loads of great little places in town I wanted to try. Staff are great, beds are clean and warm. Decor is a... More

As the Name 'View Hotel Seizan' implies, the view is great! The hotel stands on top of a hill and I recommend to use a taxi, especially if you carry any kind of luggage. There is a short way to the hotel, but it consists mostly of steep stairs. The room was spacy and the bed was comfortable (although my... More

This place ranks middle of the class. Nothing special but nothing disastrous either. Pros - amazing view over Onomichi, large rooms with seating lounge, close to station (10 minute walk up a steep hill - good for winning some calories to cover all the good food you can eat in town), clean and tidy. Cons - place is a bit... More

We stayed one night in room 207 and booked the hotel due to what was available in the area which was limited being a Saturday night and a last minute booking. For 7,000 Yen (c.£40), you get what you pay for so we cannot complain. It really is a basic hotel and not really a place for us. The room... More

Unless you are told to take a taxi. We ventured by foot up the stairs to this lovely hotel, which is a mistake in the middle of summer. However, once we arrived (dripping in sweat and out of breath)- it was all worth it. The view is superb and certainly worth it. Just make sure to take a taxi there,... More

Although the hotel may be a bit dated, its location on the hill with a view of Onomichi bay is awesome. The Thai restaurant in the hotel serves great food and provides a panoramic, night view of the bay. The cook went to great lengths to make a vegetarian dish which she enjoyed very much!

We arrived at the train station after dark and not knowing which way to turn, we hailed a taxi to find our hotel which was a very good idea! After a winding ride on narrow streets--which, by the way, were 2-way traffic, we arrived at the top of the cliff to an inviting lobby--with the only negative of the strong... More

Onomichi is a very nice city with a lot to see (temples walk) and a good base to visit the area. The hotel has a fantastic view and the room is quite large ( for Japanese standards). The real problem is that it is located uphill and you have to climb a very steep flight of stairs to reach it. Absolutely... More

This is our 5th night in Japan and our first and only night in Onomichi. We checked in and the staff was very sweet and helpful. Our room seemed quite clean and standard for Japanese rooms with a terrific view, however, around 10pm a cockroach scurried across the floor, which freaked us both out. We captured it under the trash... More

We stayed two nights at this hotel and found it very comfortable. It is not smart or modern, but our room was spacious and clean and the views are spectacular. Even though the hotel is close to Onomichi Station, it would be difficult to walk there with luggage because of the extreme steepness of the hill so a taxi is... More
