We spent 3 nights at Beniya Mukayu late November at the end tail of our 2 weeks travel around Japan to relax. We did spend a wonderful time and the hotel was more than we had expected. The hotel has a Zen concept which is well represented in every aspect. From the time you enter the hotel to the smallest... More

We only stayed one night which was too short and it was a fantastic and relaxed stay. The ryokan is located about 2 hours from Kyoto by train and an enjoyable train ride. Not very spectacular but comfortable Upon arrival at the train station, we were met by the hotel representative who transferred us to the ryokan. The trip takes... More

After two years, I was finally able to plan a new trip to Beniyq Mukayu. During all that time I dreamt of the peace and quiet as well as the friendliness and hospitality of Mr. and Mrs. Kazunuri Nakamichi and all their staff. I was not disappointed. Seldom were we made to feel so well at home. The Japanese rooms... More

Room & Interior: Spacious and minimalist, yet with Japanese details, the whole place exudes Zen. Beautiful garden view from the room, top quality amenities with a pleasantly medicinal scent of lemon verbena, and the bed couldn’t be more comfortable. 5/5 Service: The staff were friendly but it’s the friendliness that you’d expect from a supermarket cashier (by Japanese standard). Overall... More

Overall our stay was great. Dinner served is one of the best I've ever had in so many Ryokan visits around Japan. So many variety of dishes and local cuisine... The place surely knows how to surprise you and continue to set your expectation high! The stay plan I chose included a local specialty dish carefully chosen the Ryokan chef.... More

We really enjoyed our visit to Beniya primarily because of the people. We experienced a high level of hospitality and didn't leave the property during our stay, which we quite pleasant. We had spa treatments (wonderful), enjoyed a brief but interesting tea ceremony with the owner, participated in morning yoga, and appreciated the artful surroundings. While the architecture tended toward... More

The stay was a real treat. Room and bed and meals and service were all perfect. The room had its own balcony and onsen. We loved the fine quality of amenities provided in the room, and the tea and night snack and electrical blanket under futon and other heart-warming niceties that made us feel very pampered in this place. I stayed in Beniya Mukaya for one night in early June. My friend and I found the hotel from one of the Japanese travel guides. Zen like atmosphere. Modern and relaxing, no pretense. Yes, the floors have some scuff marks but after an hr at Beniya you stop noticing. Very serene environment.
