My mum and I travelled here for one night. We wanted to have a Ryokan and Onsen experience, and were primarily drawn to this property for the private onset available in each of the rooms. This hotel did not disappoint at all. Even considering the higher tariff, it was completely worth it for the experience. This property is not a... More

My interior designer wife and I spent 2 nights in Beniya having just come from a more traditional ryokan, and were very impressed by the level of professionalism and skill of the staff and of course the warm attitude expressed. The owners of the ryokan have thought in great detail about the experience of their guests and have made sure... More

First of all, I must admit that I have never written anything on tripadvisor but I have decided to do so for Beniya as it is such a special place. We have stayed at many five star hotels, small luxury hotels and ryokans in Japan and in other parts of the world. Beniya just stands out in so many ways.... More

We visited Japan in November/December and initially spent 3 nights in Kyoto. We stayed at the Ritz-Carlton which was excellent. The stay in Kyoto was very nice and we were blessed with exceptional weather. We then took the Thunderbird Express from Platform Zero to Kagaonsen. We were picked up by the hotel shuttle. The station being 15 minutes away and... More

We spent 3 nights at Beniya Mukayu late November at the end tail of our 2 weeks travel around Japan to relax. We did spend a wonderful time and the hotel was more than we had expected. The hotel has a Zen concept which is well represented in every aspect. From the time you enter the hotel to the smallest... More

We only stayed one night which was too short and it was a fantastic and relaxed stay. The ryokan is located about 2 hours from Kyoto by train and an enjoyable train ride. Not very spectacular but comfortable Upon arrival at the train station, we were met by the hotel representative who transferred us to the ryokan. The trip takes... More

After two years, I was finally able to plan a new trip to Beniyq Mukayu. During all that time I dreamt of the peace and quiet as well as the friendliness and hospitality of Mr. and Mrs. Kazunuri Nakamichi and all their staff. I was not disappointed. Seldom were we made to feel so well at home. The Japanese rooms... More

Room & Interior: Spacious and minimalist, yet with Japanese details, the whole place exudes Zen. Beautiful garden view from the room, top quality amenities with a pleasantly medicinal scent of lemon verbena, and the bed couldn’t be more comfortable. 5/5 Service: The staff were friendly but it’s the friendliness that you’d expect from a supermarket cashier (by Japanese standard). Overall... More

Overall our stay was great. Dinner served is one of the best I've ever had in so many Ryokan visits around Japan. So many variety of dishes and local cuisine... We really enjoyed our visit to Beniya primarily because of the people. We experienced a high level of hospitality and didn't leave the property during our stay, which we quite pleasant. While the architecture tended toward... More
