My wife, teenage son and I spent four nights at Beniya Mukayu in early April. The previous week had been a whirlwind of sightseeing in Tokyo and Kyoto. We had a full day to rest and refresh ourselves, and then used Beniya Mukayu as our base to explore Kanazawa and the mountain regions. (We had hired a driver and English-speaking... More

My wife and I stayed one night in this lovely divine Japanese Ryokan. Something you will never find in Europe. I would definitely say it is totally worth a visit. The quality of the Ryokan itself is impeccable. The food, concept, and the serenity totally blends well with the nature. A well deserved Relais and Chateaux kind of hotel. The... More

We stayed for 5 nights at this modern Ryokan and experienced total calmness of mind; the welcome tea ceremony with the Master of the house was certainly something to remember. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, including my strange request (in Japan anyway) of a jug of hot milk on a couple of evenings. Staff members were quietly... More

Spent a couple of nights here in Feb. 2014. This isn't a ryokan but a "boutique" hotel. The food is good although the dining room reminded me of a work cafeteria...it's quite loud and not very cozy. The Japanese tub on the balcony of each room is great...very peaceful to sit outside soaking. I thought the individual tubs outside each... More

Dear Britlog, Warm greetings from Beniya Mukayu! Thank you very much for taking the time to provide feedback regarding our hotel. We are terribly sorry regarding our dining room; as maybe during your stay the hotel is quite packed, thus dining room seems crowded and noisy. During the month of February, we are serving our winter dishes, which does not... More

We had a very relaxing one-night stay here after a 25 minute train ride from Kanazawa. This was our first and only experience at a Japanese ryokan, so we don't have much to compare it to. That said, the staff treated us very well, our 8-course dinner was delicious and beautifully presented, the room was comfortable and modern, and the... More

We stayed two night here, the food from breakfast to dinner were all wonderful and individual, the rooms had views of the tree line and the onsen was quite relaxing, the staff took care of our every need, it is not cheap but i think it was worth it.

After hearing/reading rave reviews of Beniya we had high hopes for our visit, and I'm sorry to say we were disappointed and very glad we only spent one night. It is an hour away from Kanazawa, too far to be a focal point for sight seeing there. And there's not much to see or do closer. Therefore Beniya is a... More

Beniya Mukaya is a delightful small hotel about an hour from Kanazawa by car. It is hidden in a wooded residential area on the outskirts of Kaga and some of the neighbouring buildings are fairly ugly but once inside the hotel grounds one is in a different world. The staff are absolutely charming and go out of their way to... More

One day stay in Beniya Mukayu was the highlight of our honeymoon trip to Japan and the only thing we regret is that we didn't stay longer. We stayed in a large traditional Japanese suit, kindly upgraded by the owner, Nakamichi-san, once he learned that we were on our honeymoon. We fully enjoyed in-suit private hot bath with the spring-water,... More

We experienced a wonderful night at Beniya Mukayu and highly recommend this exceptional experience. The food was amazing -- local, fresh and seasonal seafood that was presented in such a beautiful manner that even my eleven year old was mesmerized. The spa was magical, yoga in the morning was an ideal start to the day, and the tea ceremony that... More
