We stayed in The Glades in winter. Not sure what the 'Glade' in the title refers to...lots of trees have been cut down and it's in a suburban street. But there are 'Lake Glimpses' from the third floor bedrooms. Yes, there are three floors and it's the oddest architecture I have ever seen! We called it The Treehouse! Two flights... More

We thought your description of the Glades was spot on! It WAS architecturally designed in the 1970's, however we agree design has since moved on and it's now definitely got the bach feel with no pretensions. In the summer the fruit trees are laden with apples which helps to make it a great place for kids. More

We stayed at Halls Cabin in July. Very clean, well-equipped & comfortable log cabin with wood fire to keep the place nice & warm. Full eat-in kitchen, flat screen tv, all mod-cons. I don't usually get excited about something as mundane as a shower but this one rates a comment. Shower, sauna & massage in one, you come out feeling... More

There's nothing like amazing water pressure to make you feel great! We are very glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you are able to come back again. Tekapo is a very restorative place and we love it too. More

We found the Mary Hut (a brand-new, separate tiny house a few blocks from the main B&B) to be the perfect retreat on our trip to South Island. We were stuck inside one full day by a wicked snow/rain/sleet/gale storm, and were toasty warm with the under-floor heating and wood-burning stove. The full kitchen came in handy that day as... More

The entertainment value is mutual! It's a lot of fun introducing our guests to a few Kiwi quirks - in this case thanks to legendary poet Sam Hunt :) Next time you visit we'll take you/send you for a more challenging hike up a bigger hill! More

My partner and myself travelled around the South Island with another couple and we visited Lake Tekapo towards the end of April. We were so impressed with our holiday house. We had beautiful views and it was very spacious. The fire place was an added bonus. The service was excellent and the house very clean. We loved it so much... More

Prince William and Kate could not have been treated more royally than the welcome we received from Caroll and Craig. Four fantastic days in this idyllic place, enjoying superb hospitality from our hosts. Wonderful scenery, fabulous walks, and scrumptious food. We can't wait to visit again.

Thank you for your feedback. Holiday homes are a little different from motels in that each one is individually owned, and they are all furnished and equipped slightly differently. We are working towards attaining consistently high standards of cleanliness and facilities across the great variety of homes we manage. While holiday homes are fully self catering (we supply linen, towels,... More

While the general spec of the property was OK for $185 a night you would expect it to be good. it felt as if it had been put on the rental market as an after thought as there was no welcome book to tell how it all worked with info on local amenities etc.Cutlery and plates were tired or cheap.... Thank you for your feedback. Askray is a lovely modern apartment with magnificent views of the lake so we are sorry you were disappointed by other things. As we have just taken over in the last month we are endeavouring to learn the quirks and characteristics of each home as quickly as we can and will shortly have full instructions... More

We were "upgraded" to Rossendale but felt that we had been downgraded. Was a very nice house but cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Had to wipe rice off bench, dishes put away wet, unpleasant stain on dining room chair, and place mats provided should have been thrown out long ago. Lounge suites dirty and need replacing.

We had two nights at Rossendale, and enjoyed its cosy fire. The house is a well planned modern building and the beds are excellent. Furnishings a bit tired, and a few items of equipment missing. Previous guests had put cooking utensils away unwashed, including a pan of rice with interesting colours developing! Not really the owners fault, but an unwelcome... More
